As for that video posted above (with Pete Townshend) - that's like my most favourite song in the whole wide world! I've loved that since I was like 14 - I was a huge Ronnie Lane fan (the part Eddie's singing)...I love it! However, I do feel a tad melancholy when I watch that vid, despite Ed looking so good. Pete was really helping him out it seems when things were tough for Ed around that time...
I have a magazine clipping somewhere that says (in 1991) that the album most likely to soothe Ed's soul was "Rough Mix", where that song "Heart to Hang Onto" is from...

ok, what's going on in that pic? at first i thought he was falling into the crowd, but where's the crowd, and he seems to be high up (that spool of rope is probably near the ceiling), and is he wearing a harness?No problem can be solved from the same consciousness that created it.
