isnt it basically ripped straight off the CD? so the quality is no better than the CD. its got the same shitty loudness that all new albums have i think.
I thought I was nuts, but I couldn't agree more. The sound is terrible.
I'm new to vinyl as I just got a record player last summer, but of all the vinyl I have, Backspacer sounds the worst. The Ten reissue sounds great and my other records (Neil Young, Dinosaur Jr., other PJ singles) sound great as well.
Backspacer sounds much better on CD than Vinyl.
"Darkness comes in waves, tell me, why invite it to stay?"
i didn;t know so many of you were sound engineers. wow. it's like having a 4 man panel of simon cowell x 4!
There's a pretty significant difference in sound quality, depending on how it's pressed. It's nice that vinyl is making a comeback, but there are some serious quality control issues. I've been burned a couple times by digital recordings on wax. Unfortunately, Backspacer isn't even the worst example.

A perfect example of how NOT to master vinyl.
Which is especially troubling, since it may have been the best one to have a great vinyl copy of.
Nuclear fission
