Quick Eddie Vedder recording question.

I was watching Immagine in Cornice and was wondering what Eddie's recording setup was in that one scene where he's recording Picture in a Frame backstage....
When this just feels like spinning plates.

    wasn't it a four track .

    now u make me want to watch it to see .

    its called : 8 track . the same size as a four track with alot of knobs

    I know it was an 8 track but there was some other stuff that his mic and guitar was plugged into then that went into the 8 track.
    When this just feels like spinning plates.

    I know about the recorder thing, my question was about the thing the guitar is plugged into before it goes into the 8-track....

    To me it looked like he went into a 4 or 8 channel mixer (mackie, yamaha) direct and the lined out into his 8 track (tascam,BOSS). Simple and effective setup.
