Is this a monitor in this picture? As in: reading lyrics from a monitor? And if so, is this a commonly known thing? Well, I think we all know Ed's memory isn't the very best when it comes to his lyrics, but somehow...

looks like a light is on it... might be where he puts the setlist? just a guess.oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0

Oh, you're right. Now that you say it, it seems a little counterproductive to point lights at a screen.0 -

Here's another view from the same source:

It looks like a music stand. Like dunkman said, it's probably mostly there to put the setlist, although I know Ed has a habit of pulling covers out at the last minute, so he might need a lyric sheet for something that isn't particularly well-rehearsed.
Other artists have gotten very comfortable using teleprompters to display lyrics, so that's not an uncommon thing, but I don't think Ed has gotten there yet. But I guess I wouldn't be surprised, with the size of their catalog, to see it on a future tour. It's hard to remember all of those words, even if you wrote them!...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.0 -
I'm not a fan of teleprompters onstage at all... I'd rather see a fuckup.Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V0

It depends on the band for me.
What's everyone's thought about using them for the music?0 -

Well, a teleprompter is easier to handle and does virtually the same as a piece of paper so to me that shouldn't really make much of a difference. But strangely,in some weird way it does. I'm not a fan of the whole idea, though. Somehow I think fuckups belong in the game.0
