Forgive my ignorance if i'm posting this in the wrong forum but I have an upcoming bike ride and got to thinking, wouldn't it be great to wear a Pearl Jam Jersey. Does anyone know of any? My basic internet searches have landed me nothing.

Never seen one, but I would buy one. If we have enough cyclists on this board we could get some made through one of the custom people. Our racing team just had some tri wear customized from Champion Systems (or something like that).

Thanks RR. I don't mind researching the custom work should this post generate enough interest. I've seen some cool jersey's in the past (in particular some by Stone Brewing) by what could compare with blowing by someone with Rearview Mirror lyrics plastered on the back of your jersey.

Primal Wear seems to have the market for rock related jerseys, but I've never seen a PJ one. They do custom work, but I'm wondering if image/licensing is an issue. If you get the particulars down for a custom style, I'd definitely be down for one.

i always find it funny when the bikers all ride by in their jerseys with logos on them like they are sponsered or something.... :)

I want it but they don't got some.
If you get a Pearl Jam cycling jersey made up, you can join "The Pearl Jammers" Cycling club too.

Actually, you can join even if you don't have one. All you gotta do is love Pearl Jam & cycling.

    Check and Check.

I'm going to look into some custom options and report back. Any idea/suggestions of what you would like to see on it?

I'd be in...Voler, Primal Wear, Champion and others make nice stuff. My team uses Hincapie for our team clothes. Probably need to get permission from PJ to avoid licensing issues.

  • I'd buy one! I think whoever designed the Rock Racing kit has the right style to design a PJ kit :)

Not sure 10C would go for it, though. Just based on their never having offered the winning t-shirt design for sale, it makes me think they like to keep pretty tight control over how PJ images are used on clothing.
  • I will check with PJ/10C before proceeding with any design!

Something with the Yield cover would be cool.
I'm not very confident that they will allow this kinda branding infringement, but ya never know.
Even if i don't have Pearl Jam on my back while I'm riding, they are almost ALWAYS in my head (ipod). I think the fastest I ever rode on flat ground was one day a few summers ago when one of the live versions of "Rockin In the Free World" came up in the playlist. It was at the end where Mike is just going totally apeshit. I looked down at the speedo & realized I was topping 25mph (which for this old dude is new ground). A big smile was immediately followed by a push on the 'Repeat' button.

Agreed! Rock Racing kits make everyone else look dorky, IMHO.

  • Yield logo would be perfect!!

I keep PJ on the ipod, too. Last summer I entered a short but intense climbing race and I listened almost exclusively to Comatose and Severed Hand to help keep the pace up  .

Goodweiser, I thought you were looking into hiring a company to make them, I didn't realize you were actually offering to design it for us - that's awesome! Thank you :D

I would like that the jersey be a color that is highly visible. I road ride solo a lot and find that I wear my bright jerseys for safety. I have a lot of cool jerseys that never get worn because they are a dark color and I don't stand out enough on the road.

Riverrunner, I'd say 99% of my riding is on the road and probably 95% of that is solo. I have several dark jerseys but MOSTLY i ride in broad daylight so its not an issue. Only been hit once and that time I was wearing a bright jersey - didn't make a difference.
So, if you could have any PJ poster on your PJ jersey, which one would you pick? I think my favorite was from Columbia SC '08.

WOW cool idea! I have done some triathlons and think most bike jerseys are goofy, but I would buy a PJ Jersey!!!!

I'm not into posters (hides head in shame), although I have several from concerts I have attended, but they are rolled up and in a drawer in the cabinet across from my desk. Maybe I will get them out at lunch and check 'em out. But basically, I'm not picky. I'm sure whatever the consensus is will be great.

It's no different than wearing your favorite sports team on your shirt or hat during day to day activities. I don't think people are trying to say they are sponsored, it's more to display your affinity of a certain group/team/individual/idea etc. i think if people were riding around in white t-shirts the event might turn out to be pretty boring.

PS - I am doing a ride in June in RI called the MS 150 (Multiple Sclerosis). But i do plan on doing the Pan/Mass on of these years. As both organizations have very personal meaning for me. If anyone wants to join my RI MS 150 team let me know and i'll send you info.

I have not received a response yet from 10C about creating a Jersey without legal implications. I'm sending another email and writing a letter today and will report back once i hear something.

How about an offroad jersey for us mountain and trail bike riders.

This with a pearl jam logo - the ripped face we see when trying to get MSG tickets (ducks for cover  ) would actually be cool.

Maybe something made of armor since Tony Kornheiser gave his goon squad the okay to run us down today.

You could get a good, clean shot of your avatar... blow it up, clean it up and take it to a place that can silk screen it on an existing, blank jersey.
    That might work.

Id be down for one too- but please design one for us mountain bikers too---super bright colors and intricate design is not so much the style--something subtle yet cool---I always liked the five elements design that was used by the band around No code I think? Or maybe something out of the Vitalogy liner notes.... Anyway, still would want the three rear pockets.....
I hold the pain, release me!
  • Don't worry mountain bikers i won't forget about you. I used to spend most of my cycling time on the trails in the woods. Only over the past couple of years have i spent more time on the road.
  • I'd be in on that! I've looked multiple times and never found anything. Old-school stick man would be cool. Or Vs Sheep or Vitalogy cover....

Ya, the Stick Man image would be really sweet!
Our local cycling club had jerseys made up by this place ...
    http://champ-sys.com/custom/cycling
... i did the artwork (nothing to brag about) and all the legwork . They were very easy to work with & reasonable prices, but i still think the biggest roadblock will be getting Pearl Jam to give approval to use of their name or anything for this. But it would b really cool. I'm kinda surprised there aren't more cycling PJ fans though.
