    I love buying cds, everything about them, they sound better in my car, than my ipod does, i love looking at the cd art work, and what the cd looks like, and when i import them to my ipod for when im on the go, its all organized. plus i just feel like its nice to buy them and listen to them all the way through from start to finish :geek:

    theyre fun to look through in the store too.

    But I also get weirdly paranoid about my iTunes library and iPod like suppose somebody steals them or Apple gets some weirdass virus and my whole music library gets wiped out. Yes I have an external hard drive, but sometimes they go all wacky too, right? I know I sound paranoid.

    and think of this way, no code is an awesome album. and look how the packaging for it just made it even more incredible....part of the joy of a new PJ album for me is bringing it home and pouring thru all the artwork and lyrics. no code was by far the most fun with the polaroids! :)

    In a word, no. I want the best quality audio possible. Compressed audio files, like MP3s, will never equal CDs as far as sound quality.
    Admittedly, I love my iPhone and I have a really good headset to go with it, but I can't rip my CDs to Apple Lossless because I don't have enough disk space. However, because I want high quality audio, I rip my music to 256kbps VBR AAC to balance sound quality with file size. Very few venues will sell audio at that bitrate. Even iTunes typically will have 256k, but not VBR.

    I buy Pearl Jam. I bought The Beatles re-masters. With a couple of the other bands that I really like (QOTSA, Metallica, White Stripes), I'll buy it if I downloaded it and liked it. But otherwise, I haven't really bought CDs since torrents came about.

    Ipods are great for long road trips. it was the catalyst for me buying mine. it's no fun driving down the highway and flipping cd's every hour.

    no, i agree that cd's sound better than ipods, you mitigate some of that sound loss by ripping your cd's at a higher than standard bit rate. there is a big difference between 256 and the 1000 that i use.
