we could totally pay for universal health care. the pentagon and military budget is $708 billion, BILLION dollars. the navy budget is $115 billion, which is more than the next 13 countries combined, 11 of which are our allies....we can cut the military budget SIGNIFICANTLY and pay for single payer universal health care...

not to mention they purchase products and services so they pay sales tax....

also, a lot of them would be eligible for a tax refund but since they are illegally here they don't file and the government keeps the money

First of all, I was speaking to someone on the right side of the isle. Democrats being useless is another whole discussion. Even if Republicans didn't block EVERYTHING proposed by Obama, I still doubt they would get anything done. Since Democrats and Republicans are bought by the same corporate masters, neither of which has done anything about immigration. I'd say that reinforces my argument.

also, a law that is not enforced is a joke. Trust me, if undocumented immigrants tried to uprise and protest they'd be back in Mexico in a blink of an eye. As it stands, they are just too useful.

perhaps one of the reasons that the defense budget is so high because we have to pay for universal single payor health insurance for all of our servicemen and women?? its called Tricare...look it up...if you retire from the military you get tricare for life, in addition to medicare...2 universal single payor insurances?? no there is no way that can ever work....its enough to make my head explode with the high cost.... :roll:

yep, if that was an old injury and your insurance switched they will not pay for the surgery, its a pre-existing condition. was it an injury or was it a degenerative change that caused the tear? all these tea baggers say that government will get between you and your doctor in making decisions, but the whole point of medicine is to start conservative and try non-surgical interventions and exhaust them before resorting to surgery. what your situation tells me is that insurance would have you believe that surgery should be done at the time of injury, which is the insurance company dictationg your care and getting between you and your doctor. for orthopedic issues like a torn meniscus there are several non-surgical interventions that are cheeper that should be tried first. any physician will tell you that.. if you are rushed in for knee surgery you run the risk of things like early onset arthritis down the road..which would give you another "pre-existing condition" but that is a topic for another thread....

I have been thru the same thing....I just don’t see how the insurance death panels (as someone on here referred to them ) are going to be any different than the panels that will be formed with this healthcare they want to pass now.......I agree we should all have health care and no war....but that will only happen in a perfect world..
