Biggest rip off in the fund raising world!!!!!

My wife was a girl scout leader for about 5 years and it is a complete joke what the local girls actually get for selling these overpriced cookies.

Last year they were $3.00 or more for each box, and its about $.25 of each box that goes to the local chapter. The girl scouts arent even allowed to do any type of fund raiser if they dont first sell the cookies. Blackmailing Girl Scouts anyway.

Save your money. Buy cookies at the grocery store and give the girls a cash donation. You and the girl scouts will be money ahead.

Back in the day these things were made by Burry Biscuits and they had the factory in Elizabeth NJ which was about 10 minutes from where I grew up. You used to be able to go to the factory and buy like 5 pound bags of 'broken' cookies. they could not be boxed and sold retail, so they sold them broken in bulk. My mom used to take us there once in awhile and damn, to have a 5 lb bag of thin mints was insane.

Jules: You remember Antoine Roccamora, half black, half Samoan, used to call him Tony Rocky Horror?
    Vincent: Yeah, maybe. Fat, right?
Jules: I wouldn't go so far as to call the brother fat, I mean he got a weight problem. What's *he* gonna do? He's Samoan…. Girl Scout Cookie.

No the biggest rip off is Boy Scout popcorn.

The crap cost $20-$40 for a tin of horrible pre-popped corn. With kernels being way over priced too.

Better than not buying is not donating all together.

I for one will never support a organization that so openly supports religion.

Sometimes there's too much thought and emphasis on so many little things and details that don't actually affect the organizations.

The girls probably get rewarded based on how many boxes they sell. They probably have fun sometimes selling them. They always seem peppy at the markets. Do they get much from it? Monetarily, probably not but, it teaches them working a bit to get stuff they want. I'm sure if you sat there and lectured a girl scout about why you would or wouldn't buy her cookies her eyes would glaze over. For them it's simply earning support for her and her troop.

I've never been a girl scout so i don't know the amount of religion that's crammed down their throats but i was a part of the YMCA and that's fundamentally christian. Did i know it as a child? No. And i sold the peanuts for fundraising. I think the amount of religious influence these organizations have on kids is nil. It's more about the actual activities they do.

I'll buy a box or two. it'll help some girl with her troop sales and I'll get good cookies, even if they do cost a bit more than I'd like.

Sometimes a cookie is just a cookie!
