CrossTalk on Holocaust: Murder Revenues
Sixty-five years ago, Auschwitz was liberated by Soviet troops. Peter Lavelle asks his guests what the legacy of the Holocaust is today? Is its memory being abused?
the other guy doesn't like answering questions much!
it's basically about how Israel uses the Holocaust to push its policy and if this is abusing the memory of the Holocaust
i wonder why Israel refuses to recognize the Armenian genocide?

"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank." - Barack Obama
when you told me 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em'
i was thinkin 'death before dishonor'

Probably for the same reason everyone else refused to recognize it, because they have strategic ties to Turkey and don't want to ruin the relationship. Not saying I think this is the right thing to do, but there it is.
As for using the holocaust (or misusing it), had anyone ever even heard about Norman Finkelstein before he put out a book saying that Jews and Israel use the holocaust as cover to do bad things?! I mean seriously, this guys entire career is essentially based on making a very contentious accusation centered squarely on the holocaust, so I ask you who is really abusing it? I say the guy shamelessly making money off it.you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane0 -

I'm not saying he didn't have a career, but his high-profile career as a public intellectual is owed entirely to his cynical misuse of the Holocaust.you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane0 -

hello??
and are you ok with Israel evoking the holocaust when they were pushing for support in attacking Iraq? you say it's shameless for Finkelstien to write a book criticizing how Israel uses the holocaust for support in foreign policy and how people collecting the money for the holocaust survivors ripped them off why is it not as equally shameless when Israel uses the holocaust to start unneeded wars like in Iraq??don't compete; coexist
