Oh, I've tried it. Been to Lolla twice since it came to Chicago permanently. Its not terrible for other bands, but I'd prefer sitting in 10c seats at a PJ headlining show.

Im guessing you didnt attend Bonnaroo...

No, Lolla is the only big time festival I've been to. I have a feeling my opinion on fests would change if I were to attend Bonnaroo....

ya Lolla and Bonnaroo are two completeley different animals. but i understand your stance on festival "seating" vs. 10c seating.

actually at Bonnaroo it was different cause the stage was so high off the ground you were actually better off back a little bit. I am not the type to wait all day in line to get on the rail and miss other bands...but i ended up getting to within 5 "rows" off the rail behind the actual pit and it was awesome. the whole festival community is such a beautiful thing it really cant be justified in words.

if they did bonnaroo again, i would be tempted to make that trip again. lolla just doesn't do anything for me. maybe because it's in chicago. maybe that makes it cool. i dunno.

i would like to try Lolla one year. i kind of like the idea of huge festival in a giant park in the middle of the city. you gotta stay in hotels and commute to the festival grounds. but then again...you just cant beat being in the middle of nowhere (TN for Roo, or Mich. for Rothbury, etc etc) with some of teh best bands on the planet and camping and the whole production.

I Saw PJ at Lollapalooza 07 and Bonnaroo 08....I drove from Maine both times and I'd go back to both for PJ in a heart beat... The two festivals are completely different... both have many pros and a few cons... but I think all in all Lollapalooza is better.... well maybe, but more expensive since you need a hotel vs. camping out...

I love Lolla, but they are overselling that festival now. I would absolutely pay a little more to not have to fight for every band at every stage, and wait 20 minutes to piss.

granted it is way more crowded now than it was the first couple years, but you never really have to wait in line beers or the bathroom.
