sometimes they drop an album and there will be a song that i find "eh"...but then i see them do it live and it's like "whoa!!!!"
The 2 songs that come to mind, for me, are....
Severed Hand - i hated the "yeahhhhhhh" parts when it first came out...but when i saw this live it was 10x better than the album version.....I love this song now!
You Are - the album version is not a bad song...in fact it's a great tune...but it wasn't till i heard Stone's riff live that i really fell for this song...Riot Act so awesome & it has become one of my top PJ albums!...so underrated!!!!
PJ may be the only band on the planet that can make a song sound even better live than it did in the studio.....such amazing musicians!
* EDIT: ARC
holy fuck!! how could i forget Arc?!?!
I never liked that shit till i went to an Ed solo show and was totally blown away by Arc...if you have never seen Ed do this live you'd never understand because their are no words that can articulate all the emotions that came over me when i heard it live...Ed sings from his soul when he does Arc!

Not quite the same because I haven't actually seen any of them performed live yet but Sleight Of Hand only hit home after years of listening to boots and it was an 06 show in Switzerland I think when I finally got it. Speed Of Sound and Supersonic will have to be seen live before making judgement I think because I don't like the studio or boot versions I've heard

The Fixer.
First time I heard it I thought it was lame and very un-Pearl Jam-ish. Then saw it live in Chicago before the album came out and liked it a lot better. I think seeing the energy of the band onstage helped sway my opinion. It grew on me and I realized it's a fun song and I like it more now.He who forgets will be destined to remember.

Much of Backspacer is better live, and Life Wasted and Evacuation were both much better as well. But no song went from plain to outstanding more than Push Me, Pull Me.Apr 07, 1994/Oct 01, 1996/Jul 07, 1998/Jul 08, 1998/Aug 29, 1998/Aug 31, 1998/Sep 01, 1998/Sep 03, 1998/Sep 04, 1998/Sep 06, 1998/Jun 01, 2000/Jun 04, 2000/Jun 06, 2000/Oct 20, 2000/Oct 21, 2000/Oct 22, 2000/Oct 24, 2000/Oct 25, 2000/Oct 20, 2001/Oct 21, 2001/May 30, 2003/Jun 01, 2003/Jun 02, 2003/Jun 28, 2003/Jul 02, 2003/Oct 25, 2003/Jul 15, 2006/Jul 16, 2006/Jul 18, 2006/Jul 20, 2006/Jul 22, 2006/Jul 23, 2006/Sep 21, 2009/Sep 22, 2009/Sep 26, 2009/Sep 25, 20110
