11. In Violet Light

A good album... just not enough "great" songs. Lack thereof puts it at the bottom of the list.

10. Music at Work

Another good album... "great" songs like "Music at Work", "The Bear", "Lake Fever", "Putting Down", and "Stay" put it above In Violet Light.

9. In Between Evolution

Better than In Violet Light, but similar in it's lack of "great" songs. Though I do love "It Can't be Nashville Every Night".

8. Road Apples

Great album, I just always prefer most other Hip albums. "Fiddler's Green" and "Long Time Coming" though... classic ballads.

7. World Container

High rotation when this album came out. Full of great songs like "In View", "Fly", "World Container", and one of my favourite Hip songs... "Yer Not the Ocean". But, songs like "Luv (Sic)", "The Drop Off", "The Kid's Don't Get It" seemed too much like filler tunes.

6. Trouble at the Henhouse

One more excellent song would have probably propelled this album towards the top. "Coconut Cream" is the best sleeper Hip song out there.

5. Day for Night

Much like Trouble at the Henhouse, one or two substitutions would have made this one of the Hip's best albums. "Nautical Disaster" and "Scared" stand alone way too much.

4. Fully Completely

I'm just not huge on "Lionized", "The Wherewithal", "El Dorado".. .every other song is classic. "Wheat Kings".

3. We Are the Same

This might #3 because it's new and on very high rotation for me. But it's not often I put in a new record and stumble upon Instant Classics. "Morning Moon", "Queen of the Furrows", "Coffee Girl", "Country Day"... all topped off with "The Depression Suite" and all Instant Classics... in my opinion.

2. Up to Here

Classic Tragically Hip.

1. Phantom Power

I've always considered this my favourite Hip album. You could certainly make the argument that 5 or 6 other albums are better... but.. the album would have been great on it's own... then when you get to the end.. it's like... how do you end a record better than "Escape is at Hand for the Traveling Man" and "Emperor Penguin".... kinda reminiscent of PJ's avocado with "Come Back" and "Inside Job"... ... also I've always had a soft spot for the likes of "Something On", "Fireworks" and of course.... "Bobcaygeon".

Cheers!

Incomplete on the latest three because I gave up on them. Can't listen to their new music at all anymore.
“Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies — ‘God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.’” - Kurt Vonnegut
