The Inlaw Josie Wales - Phish

    yeah, this one's great.

Pink Floyd- One Of These Days. I like a lot of their instrumentals, actually.
    The Chieftains- Dunmore Lassies
REM- New Orleans Instrumental No. 1
    Allmans- Jessica
Booker T & the MGs- Green Onions
    Beastie Boys- Groove Holmes
    Def Leppard- Switch 625

There's more I'm forgetting I'm sure. Then there's things like Godspeed, Dirty Three, Moodswings, DJ Shadow and others who don't really have any vocals in much of their music that I like, too.

Sigur Ros - Popplagio (Untitled 8),

This is one of my favorite songs all-time, but it still has vocals. They may be a voice-as-instrument type thing (since he's singing made up words), but he's still singing on it.
  • chili peppers - pretty little ditty
    pj - aye davanita
    soundgarden - applebite
    aic - whale and wasp
any zeppelin or pink floyd instrumental

    are we counting jazz?

kind of blue the entire album.

i was gonna ask the same thing. can't believe the first mention of miles came on the second page in a thread about instrumentals. i'm partial to "freddy freeloader" if we're talking individual tracks.

as far as alternative rock music is concerned, i would say "pacific theme" by broken social scene.

also...the song "pink steam" from sonic youth, while not strictly an instrumental track, is a pretty great song. one of my favorites of theirs. rather ripped is a very underappreciated album in my opinion.

Good call, Dewie. I've been listening to that track a lot lately.

Have you seen the dvd yet? It's the first tune and it's just so amazing it watch it unfold.

Yes, it definitely is! Cabin Fever is a superb dvd. I made a point of buying it, along with a six-pack the day it came out. It ended up being a great night. :)
