The latest Soundgarden reunion rumors

Yesterday Krist Novoselic said that Soundgarden are not reuniting in his Seattle Weekly column.

http://grungereport.net/2009/12/22/kris ... are-false/

Now, less than a day later (6 hours ago) ConsequencesofSound are reporting that Soundgarden are mapping out west coast tour dates.

http://grungereport.net/2009/12/22/cons ... novoselic/

I'm very skeptical but it's interesting to see what will happen and I'm curious as to why ConsequencesofSound contradicted Novoselic's story if it's not true. Pretty odd.

Am I honestly the only one who thinks a Soundgarden reunion would be a terrible idea?
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!

    umm...yes.

Cornell is slowly beginning to look like his old self...he's been dressing more ratty and his hair is longer. i really hope a soundgarden reunion is on our horizon.
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

I'd love to see this happen, thanks for the update scottstappsucks (which by the way, your name is awesome).

I've seen Cornell twice and each time he was beyond awesome. Hearing those Soundgarden songs from Soundgarden would just be bliss.

  • If Novoselic is indeed right I wonder where sites like Consequences of Sound are getting these rumors? There have been so many this year from people with "inside sources."

Thanks scottstappsucks for keeping us in the loop!

I think this one is gonna happen and I'm thinking with all the rumors, we'll get confirmation soon. Hopefully anyway!

    try completely UNDERRATED.
everyone just says "soundgarden? who? oh yeaaa, black hole sun and outshined! the guy with the voice!"
its frustrating. louder than love, badmotorfinger, superunknown, and down on the upside are all BRILLIANT albums that i can listen to straight through. each one just totally takes you away. especially DOTU. love how trippy and otherworldly it is.

  • Not counting on the reunion but there is a good chance, and hey, if they're not actually doing it maybe all of these rumors will make them want to!

DirtyFrank I definitely agree, Down on the Upside is just brilliant. I've been on a big kick listening to it a lot recently. The album is very experimental and keeps me interested, I discover new things and appreciate little nuances every time I listen to it. My favorites on the album are Boot Camp, Zero Chance, Rhinosaur, Burden In My Hand, Blow Up The Outside World, Ty Cobb, and Tighter and Tighter. Boot Camp just has amazing desperate lyrics that are so easy to relate to, "There must be something else, There must be something good, Far away far away from here." Sucks they quit after that they were really onto something, I think Euphoria Morning as a Soundgarden record with Kim, Ben, and Matt writing too could have been the best Soundgarden record.

soundgarden is becoming the new pink floyd with all this reunion talk

it will happen in seattle at small club and tickets will go on sale a day before the concert. i could see soundgarden doing it that way. none of the band members seem to me as people that want to be a cash cows like the police or kiss. why ruin a good legacy.

I'd love for Soundgarden to reunite for a tour, but not to create new music, because that would be a full-blown reunion. Matt needs to stay in Pearl Jam!

After reading Krist's article though, I don't believe the rumors.

wow and you have all the same favorites as me too! tighter & tighter and boot camp are especially brilliant. i would also throw switch opens and overfloater in that list though. and as far as euphoria morning, it might be just as brilliant as any soundgarden album. it's incredible.

  • I agree, that's why Audioslave and his recent solo albums have been such letdowns. He was still at a creative peak during Euphoria Morning.

    Here's more news

    http://grungereport.net/2009/12/24/upda ... ur-rumors/

Basically the Consequences of Sound writer is claiming, despite the contrary reports, he is insisting that a source close to the band DID tell him Soundgarden are planning west coast dates. I'm very skeptical, but hopefully whoever told Novoselic it wasn't happening was simply trying to keep it a secret. I'm 50/50 on this though, if it happens it happens. I hope it does.

It will happen. I really don't see why not.

And even if it goes as far as making a new album im totally for it. Matt will never quit PJ, who says he can't be in both bands? More $$$ for him.

Also, how could you walk away from a band as fun as PJ? It's gotta be great to tour, play, and rehearse with them. Being a part of the Pearl Jam legacy has definitely got to be a strong point for Matt.

and nobody throw a hissy fit trying to defend his "art" just because the collaboration backfired and didn't sell shit.
