Could be a nice way to get to know your neighbours.

I've lived where I am for over 5 years and have never even said as much as hello to my neighbors.
Over the years I've found that getting to know your neighbors ends up being nothing but trouble.

Living out in the country, all of my "neighbors" are at least 200 ft away from each other. When I moved here for the first time outside the city, I thought people would be friendlier. After 4 years, we barely know the neighbors, who won't even answer their door. I guess there's a reason some people move to the country...to get away from people. Another neighbor is in his 70s, we watch over his house when he's gone for months, let him dispose his yard waste on our property, but has a plow on his truck that he's never offered to plow our driveway in the winter.
  • I have a bad back, a neck that needs a 2nd fusion, and a long ass driveway, about 75 feet long, 2 car width. So i do mine and let the neighbors know they're free to use it if they wish

My neighbor let my 53 year old disabled dad shovel our whole driveway while they used their snow blower. My dad said they just watched him shovel, and didn't even offer to let him use the machine. I couldn't help either, because I was in school when he decided to start shoveling. Some people...
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!

  • I do My Driveway, and the sidewalk for the next 5 houses. All my neighbors have snowblowers. Whoever is out first, does the sidewalk.

My toughest question is what hours are appropriate? Sometimes I get home from work around 8-9pm and I am bagged, so I use the snowblower and try to finish by 9pm.

Neither would I. Not unless you paid me to.

Well where I live, we don't get snow. The only time I have seen snow was when I was about 6, and I fell over and grazed my leg and I sat in the car for the rest, I was so upset.

But I liken your situation to me mowing lawns. When ever I mow my lawn, I always mow the neighbours nature strip (don't know if that's what it is called around the world but a bit of lawn between the footpath and the road) I also went in yesterday and mowed my neighbours front lawn. They're in Europe atm, so it makes the house look lived into the burglars.

So I guess what I am saying is, do your neighbours. But if they don't appreciate it, then they can get fucked.

you have no OBLIGATION, but if you a re good neighbor you'll do their yards too. So you waste 50 cents in gas

If you have elderly neighbors you do it no questions asked

my neighbor just bought a new one and I woke up this morning with my sidewalk and driveway done! It may suck in theory but the joy you'll bring your friends is immense!

    Excellent.

Oh by the way, I was 'forced' to watch four christmases on the weekend. My thanks for your role as the younger brother, as the movie was otherwise unwatchable at best.

My entire family, except me, is from Portland, Maine.
I'm in Michigan. My one neighbor decides to snowblow his mom's driveway at 3 a.m. Its right next to my bedroom window. Because his parents are old, I have always been polite and when my kids were young, I would make them go play at the park as to not bother these old people, then their son pulls this shit!!!
Pissed me off to no end!!!

WE call it the part between the sidewalk and the street, or the city part.

Where is use to live, the elderly man across the street had a snow blower. He always would snow blow the walk in front of my house, as well as about 3 other houses. I lived on a corner lot, but my ex husband would come and do the other sidewalk and the driveway. It was great. Where I live now, all everyone wants is money to help out. There were times I was very ill, and they knew it. They would come by and offer to do it, but at rates that were ridiculous. I'd wait til the kids came around and then pay them double!!
