Crowd Singing The Music

I noticed that in a lot non-United States concerts that I listen to, the crowds will sort of chant along with the guitar riffs and melodies. It's pretty cool actually. Check out the Do The Evolution from this show in Mexico for a good example: http://www.pearljambootlegs.org/modules ... D&ext.html
An even better example is this crowd at the 2008 Reading Festival singing the opening licks to No One Knows by QOTSA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBN3sAqyBVM

That's awesome. I had never noticed before, as I don't listen to too many non-us bootlegs. Thanks for pointing it out.0

yeah check out the whole show on the link I posted. That Mexican leg of the 2005 tour is great.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. One of the only songs in particular I can recall from that year is the Daughter/Esta Bien tag. Someone posted a video on here a long time ago and I liked it so much I had to download the show and burn it.

That song gave me chills everytime I heard it, the video is crazy.. I would have loved to be a part of that crowd!0 -
Yeah those crowds really give it their all when they get Pearl Jam. They should tour there this year.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. GREAT band...saw them live in a 200 person capacity club here in pittsburgh a while back!0 -
it's mostly central and south american countries that sing the music...and a little bit of europe (if it's catchy)
if you watch Rush Live in Rio they're singing to frickin' YYZ...
the reason i think it's mostly foreign countries is because it's a different language, there are lyrics that non-english speaking people wont understand and they sing along to the melody0 -
Maybe they do this because they know the guitar riffs too, and not only the lyrics, like you Americans

They show more passion than the Americans do..0

americans would do the same if we didn't see pj every year or didn't understand english. the south americans crowd are a bit over rated. they go apeshit crazy for pink or anyother artist that actually plays in south america. i feel bad that more artist don't play concerts in south america. only good thing bout the 05 south america shows is that they were proshot concerts.Sleep.With.Innocence wrote:They show more passion than the Americans do..Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight

we've been fortunate to see 'em played many times, but most pearl jam fans outside U.S. that i know is more passionate, but yet less fortunate to see them play in their country.0 -
I think that some more respect towards the South American crowds is relevant there.
There are thousands of reasons to consider why US crowds, or European crowds, or whatever crowds are less passionate than South American crowds. In the end, the South American crowds simply show more passion. Would it have been a 'who knows the songs best contest', the US crowds would probably win it.
Or is Vedder crazy to label the 2005 Argentina crowd the 'Greatest Audience'? In the same speech, he says that "no one sings the guitar parts for christ's sake!": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BicgWCtYpk
Simply watch the band being impressed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2E3uZ-Qe4M
That same crowd performed a chilling version of Black: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHz68GUHy3IRotterdam 2000 (CANCELLED) | Arnhem 2006 | Rotterdam 2009 | Berlin 2009 | Arras 2010 | Amsterdam-1 2012 | Amsterdam-2 2012 | EV Amsterdam-1 2012 | EV Amsterdam-2 2012 | Amsterdam-1 2014 | Amsterdam-2 2014 | EV Amsterdam-2 2017 | EV Amsterdam-3 20170 -
There is no doubt that we COULD do it! I'm sure we all do it at home already when nobody else is around! (I know I do!)
Can you imagine if we did? Jesus, the guy next to me at the show already wants to knock my block off for singing the LYRICS too loud!

In Philly this year, the girl next to me laughed at my "Doo doo doo doo do do do" at the end of Black. It could have been due to the joint I smoked with her during All Those Yesterdays....but it also could have been due to how ridiculous I sounded.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea.
