there isn't enough scientific evidence to say it is not a choice.gimmesometruth27 wrote:meh, who cares....

not sure what you are talking about. there was a landmark study cited in time magazine last year or the year before stating there was a gay gene. i don't have time to look it up here at work._outlaw wrote:

on an anecdotal note, every gay person i have ever known said they never chose to be gay."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

exactly. no one in their right mind would choose to be part of a group that is so highly discriminated against. the notion that someone chooses to be gay makes about as much sense as a person having the option of race during times of slavery and choosing to be black.Gimli 1993

And in going along with this thought, if being gay was a choice, then I highly doubt that there would be such strong stereotypical ideas of what a gay person looks/sounds/acts like.0

gimmesometruth--I don't know what kind of study that was, but I still don't think there is enough proof to suggest that being gay is entirely hereditary. I would go so far to suggest that you could be genetically predisposed to being gay, just like someone could be genetically predisposed to being alcoholic or something. Meaning, chemicals in your brain work in a certain way that gives one a predisposition to being gay. But I don't believe that it can't be broken down to a gay gene, just like how obesity can't be broken down to a fat gene, or alcoholism can't be broken down to one gene. you may have friends who claim they did not choose to be gay, but that does not suggest that there are people out there who did.Thorns2010 wrote:Johnny Sitar wrote:gimmesometruth27 wrote:not sure what you are talking about. there was a landmark study cited in time magazine last year or the year before stating there was a gay gene. i don't have time to look it up here at work.

Johnny Sitar--your analogy is so weak and plenty of people may just be willing to choose to be gay.
Thorns--those stereotypes are just that: stereotypes. just like jock stereotypes or nerd stereotypes or any other bullshit, they may be based on some truth; sure there are gay people who act a certain way, but i think lots of people today find it easier to poke fun at them, or they are just the most gay people who are so open about it so they set the "standard" in a way.
anyway, I'm not trying to suggest that it is entirely impossible for a gay gene to exist, or that all gay people chose to be gay, I'm just suggesting a possibility and pointing out the fact that I think you incorrectly made such a claim like that, which is so hard to defend, absolute.0

            Living Colour.....*Bi*
People, if they choose you, then they want you to decide
But you’d rather relax, kick back, enjoy the ride
There’s a category if you’re straight or gay
You’re a wild card gambler and you like it both ways
Everybody wants you when you’re bi
Looking at the girls and eyeing all the guys
Everybody loves you when you’re bi
But the tension and the passion’s double amplified
My lover told me, well, that she’s bi
I wanted to scream, there were tears in my eyes
She said baby, baby, don’t you cry
‘Cause the one I am with, you’ve been seeing on the side
Everybody wants you when you’re bi
Eating with the girls and laughing with the guys
Everybody loves you when you’re bi
But the tension and the passion’s double amplified
Everybody wants you when you’re bi
Feeling all the girls and touching all the guys
Well, everybody loves you when you’re bi
Well a friend of a friend of a friend told me
Everybody’s messed up with their sexuality
Well a friend of a friend of a friend told me
I need a closet big enough to live in
A closet for the whole world to live in
I want a closet big enough to live in
A closet for the whole world to live in
Everybody wants you when you’re bi
Loving all the girls and loving all the guys
Everybody needs you when you’re bi
But the tension and the passion’s double amplified
 Everybody wants you [that’s right]
 Everybody needs you [um-hum]
 Everybody likes you [I’ll bet]
 Everybody loves you
 Everybody, yeah
 Everybody
 Everybody, come on now
 Everybody, [not me]
 Everybody, whoo
 Everybody, yeah
 Everybody, come on now
 Everybody
 Well everybody loves you
 Bi
 Licking all the girls
 Bi
 Licking all the guys
Everybody’s fucked up with their sexuality
 You like it both ways
 Like it both ways
 Bi

depends on the person, really. or what qualifies as gay, anyway. look at Anne Heche or some prison rapists. some people will just fuck anything!Johnny Sitar wrote:gimmesometruth27 wrote:

but yeah, most are born with it i'd guess.0

I wonder if she's doing to for some media attention/movie and tv roles? She hasn't really done much lately so why not resort to becoming a fake lesbo like Anne Heche or Lindsey Lohan? 0 0
