Wow, that was hard. I had never attempted that before!

Really, every single one is great.

Your right every single album is brilliant and unique in it's own way.
I also found it hard to do, i changed my mind about six times.

    "..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."

  • Probably Yield, but of course Ten is up there too.

Something like that, it's pretty hard to pin so much quality down to a certain spot. I like to just throw all of it into a big bowl... (my ears), and make a batch of soup called: awesome, fantastic, mind-blowing soul nugget stew. As far as out of studio stuff I can listen to May 3rd 2003 at State College, PA over and over, after all it's the longest PJ show recorded, and I had the honor of being a witness. Eddie ROCKS "Hide Your Love Away". Check it out.

I know what you mean. No Code is always my number 1, but the others change postion all the time. I always feel guilty for having an album as "Least favourite". Riot Act would be there at the moment, BUT I think it is a great album- it's just that I am comparing to other great albums. If I was to compare Riot Act (or whatever was bottom) against other artist's work, most times it would be on top.

I've noticed quite a few people have picked NO CODE as their fav or a least in their top 4 or 5.
What is it about NO CODE that you love so much?
Don't get me wrong i love this album but for me it is probably my least favourite. I not exactly sure why, i think it might have something to do with what i was doing and where i was (e.g i was really depressed) when it was released. So maybe it brings back memories of that time. Ten & Vitalogy are my favs so i think NO CODE was a big change in direction for PJ so it took me awhile to warm up to it.
The lyrics and drumming in NO CODE are brilliant.
I'm just curious to know why it's your fav and anyone else who has it as their fav. Your feedback would be appreciated and it may open my eyes and ears to things i may have missed.

    Cheers

No Code is in my top 3 along with Ten & Lost Dogs. It's hard to put into words why albums speak to you... For me its the way the music & lyrics make me feel, and also somewhat where I was in my head space when I first heard it. I love that No Code was so different from anything that Pearl Jam had done previously but it still had their essence.

Hey but thats just me. ;)

The new Ten with Just a Girl and Brother on it. Original should have had these 2 plus Alone. Used to love Vitalogy the most, but now the new Ten for me.

No Code has some Gems on it. In My tree and who you are really stand out. Present Tense is out of this world. Red Mosquito is VERY underrated. (Well I guess you could say that for the whole album)

No Code just seems very under appreciated. It didn't sell as many copies as the albums before it, which is ironic because as a band that was their best collective effort today. The band is really tight on that record.
  • I'm going to have to say Vs. That album is really what got my into Pearl Jam. It was overall a really great rock and seemed to start moving PJ away from the whole "grunge" label. After that are Vitalogy and Backspacer. Backspacer is one of their best records in many many years and Vitalogy just has classic and eclectic songs. Not only that, Backspacer caused me to buy tickets to go see Pearl Jam live and I will never regret that!
