if you are friends with a woman for awhile and benefits happen later, then you can go back to being friends
if its a romantic relationship from the start, then you cant be friends after

Well initially, of course I want to bone them. But I'm a realist, it ain't going to happen. They're like first division, I'm 2nd or 3rd Division. It's rare that I step up and play in their league. But I can be friends with them, just it would be nice for a few fringe benefits.
But if all this is common knowledge (because this saying is nearly as old as time itself), then how come chicks stay friends with you, if they know guys only want one thing???

Not necessarily just that - because women generally would like to be friends with guys....speaking for myself...regardless of what a guy wants from the relationship - it's easier to be friends with guys...they're simpler. Girls are bitches...and guys are fairly open usually. If you choose to be friends with a guy, yes, you know he would like to have sex or take things further, but you also know that in all likelihood, he isn't going to act on those desires unless you make the first move giving him an indication that he can. A girl can then have a guy as a friend, knowing what he wants makes it easier to be natural and friendly around him. Girls say stuff they don't mean, they are harder to be friends with....sorry if that doesn't make sense...I just personally find it easier to relate to guys and be friends with them, than women...so that's my take on it.

Its easier to be friends with the opposite sex because their is no competition to speak of. Guys are just as catty as women. I work with nothing but dudes, and you would swear its a soap where I work. I can say the same thing about women, they are really easy to talk to and get along because there is no competition and the lines are respected more then with same sex friendships.
I got a woman to admit that women secretly know that they can't be just friends and that they keep a small amount of dudes on deck for those just incase moments. They fall into two categories: the first one is some one they will have sex with but don't have the same excitement as the bad boy, and usually are the rebound guy (these are also the guys they marry once they realize they can't control the bad boy). The second is dude they don't find attractive at all but will listen to their problems and won't create drama like another women would.
As stated before, I work with nothing but dudes, I have NEVER heard any of them say they were real friends with a woman, just something they are working on until its their turn.
Its a sad world, but its the reality of it. I call my friends to do guy things...i.e. Playstation, go shooting, play hockey, help with working on a car....etc. Women for the most part don't like to do those things, so there isn't as much in common with them except for one thing!

I've never understood how women don't know this - especially when you are younger, like in your 20s, men think of every respectibly cute/hot woman they meet in those terms at some point. doesn't mean men will act on it, but the thought always creeps into our mind at some point.0
