Not for You and how it changes

I love how Ed makes this song a true reflection of his life, for I have heard him sing it live 4 different ways now:
"See my table it seats just 2"
"See my table it seats just 1"
"See my table it seats just 3"
"See my table it seats just 4"
"See my table it seats just 2"
"See my table it seats just 1"
"See my table it seats just 3"
"See my table it seats just 4"

Ed switches up a ton of his songs live. He usually just just switches "I'm"s in songs to "you're"s, but he does more stuff too.
I don't think he ever sings the same lyrics twice to Yellow Ledbetter. That song has its own living soul.
Ever since the Roskilde (I hope I spelled that right) incident where nine fans died, Pearl Jam played the song Arc once per show, for nine shows. They haven't played it live since and they never will again.
For every year that passes, the line in Love Boat Captain, "Lost nine friends we'll never know, two years ago today," Eddie adds on another year, showing that he'll never forget. I believe he's currently up to eight years.
There are more examples, but these are the ones that are coming to my mind. Really, it's just one more reason to see them live as much as possible. It doesn't matter how many shows you've gone to see, there will always be something new to see at the next concert. If hope can grow from dirt like me ...0 -

it's amazing how just the slightest change to a lyric, no matter how small or pointless, makes me smile when I hear it at a concert.
In Brisbane the other night (it's hot here), the simple change of "Understand the weather of the winter's on it's way" to "Summer" instead, gave me the biggest goofy smile. I can't even explain it, just love it.
And like the other fella said ... Yellow Ledbetter is an experience of it's own. I get goosebumps just thinking about it live. This is, this is ... my ... last exit.0 -

Lolla 07 was my favorite Not For You change...
"Small my table, sits just three. Got so crowded...fuckin'...lucky me."
I don't know why but I just loved that. The oceans made me, but who came up with love?
"You put some udder cream on that shit?" ~EV 5/17/100 -
To me this song sounds really Nirvana-ish, has anyone else thought that? And I just think Eddie is a geniusHarriet.0

The number represents his family, first it was just him then he got remarried, then one daughter and now two, for 4 total.0

I have an old bootleg where Ed's all, "Seats just two, me and Beth!"Fan of singer songwriters who push musical boundaries?

At last years Brisbane concert Ed spoke about finding about schoolies for the first time during "not For You". Schoolies is basically the ritual week long piss up on the Gold Coast for all the kids who have just finished thier final year of school and the news reports all week, every year are full of all schoolies and toolies who get arrested for behaving badly. It was quite amusing for us as it just the norm for november in australia. But he changed the lyrics to
"But you've got the power and you've got so much to do...."
Oh and toolies are the people (usually blokes) who are long past schooling age who go down to schoolies to play up and try and hook up with young girls.0
