What an insane band, got a few of their shows and have obviously heard their studio stuff. I'm listening to this one show and they played Red House, Littlewing and Pride and Joy which is know from Hendrix and Stevie Ray. I then checked the other boots incase they did any other cool covers and they have done War Pigs in one set. And of course they is the "grunge" set they did.
I think Warren Hayes is just pure class.

They cover a shitload...
I saw them, they played 'Creep', then closed with 'Almost Cut My Hair' featuring Davy Knowles of Back Door Slam!Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V0 -
They do some great covers. I love their version of the Beatles' Tomorrow Never Knows.
They've covered Hunger Strike and (I think) Black & Nothingman.
They're coming to Pittsburgh in August, so I may make the trip down to see them. Great band. Warren Haynes has always been one of my favorite guitarists, he is unbelievable with whoever he plays (Mule, Allmans, Phil & Friends, the Dead, DMB).Pittsburgh 6/23/06

I wonder what other shows i'm missing with ace covers and songs i just dont they are covering in general. And of course they is the "grunge" set they did.

MULE! I check 'em out every chance I get. I've heard them cover tons of Zep too!
My all time favorite though, was when I saw them at the Beacon a few years ago... They played "I'm so Tired" by the Beatles, jammed it out, then they let Matt A. do his thing on the drums for about 10 minutes-- he absolutely tore it up, and the drum solo led back into the chorus of "I'm so Tired." "GIVE YOU EVERYTHING I'VE GOT FOR A LITTLE PIECE OF MIND." It was beautiful-- I was loving the cover, then forgot they even played it while I was being WOWED by the drum solo, then they slammed back into it. Unreal. Warren Haynes is the greatest living guitar player in my opinion. It's unreal how versatile he is. He's got a great voice, and awesome attitude on top of that.
If you've never been to MOUNTAIN JAM, I recommend you go. It was 2 weeks ago, and I'm still smiling from such a great weekend with great music and spectacular scenery.0 -

Ah, man. They don't ever tour Europe, do they? If they don't, I would still recommend Mountain Jam. It's a 3 day festival, Mule plays Friday and Saturday Night, and this year the Allmans played Sunday, and Warren plays with them. So, this year it was 3 nights of Warren tearing it up-- he also guests on a bunch of other musician's sets also. The tickets are about $175 to camp out all 3 days. It sounds like your best bet to get your Mule fix. I think they have a new album coming out this year too...I BrisK I wrote:VINNY GOOMBA wrote:MULE! I check 'em out every chance I get. Listening to the Bonaroo show, its 3 hours and 5 minutes...How did they play thatlong at a festival!?0

BUMP
Seeing them tomorow night, someone give me some of their reviews!0 -
most jam bands play for 3 hours at roo. mmj played for 3 hours+ last year at roo as did phil leash and friends. they usually give jam bands the overnight slot at roo. it's a sorta a huge honor if you play the late night slot at roo. i'm debating on weather to see gov't mule on nye or work.Brisk. wrote:Listening to the Bonaroo show, its 3 hours and 5 minutes...How did they play thatlong at a festival!?Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight

Saw them a year ago with Back Door Slam. Had front row center tickets (my buddy won them off the radio here in CT.)
Phenomenal show. Warren Haynes is a master on guitar. They covered All ALong the Watchtower and Stay With Me by the Faces at the show I went to, as well as Rockin' In the Free World. It was insane.
I actually caught Warren Haynes guitar pick he was using during the second to last song, I was so pumped! I went home and played with it, ya know, to see if it gave me any special powers, pick of destiny style. Haha.MSG 7/8-7/9/03 -- Boston 9/28/04 -- Hartford 5/13/06 -- Boston 5/24-5/25/06 -- MSG 6/24-6/25/08 -- Hartford 6/27/08 -- Philly 10/31/09 -- Hartford 5/15/10 -- Boston 5/17/100 -

Well, I'm still playing in the basement, so I guess not
They also played for a long time when I saw them. And having Warren Haynes about 15 feet in front of me the whole night was inspiring. It's like he has an endless library of riffs and licks in his fingers.
They have a new album out, haven't checked it out yet, but all this talking about the mule just may result in me finally checking it out.MSG 7/8-7/9/03 -- Boston 9/28/04 -- Hartford 5/13/06 -- Boston 5/24-5/25/06 -- MSG 6/24-6/25/08 -- Hartford 6/27/08 -- Philly 10/31/09 -- Hartford 5/15/10 -- Boston 5/17/100 -

Dont even waste your time getting albums, you dont get their minute medley jam and all the awesomeness they are about. You seen them ive so you know what im on about.0 -
YES. They're fantastic. I saw them the day before Halloween last year with Jackie Greene (who is also amazing), and I saw Warren with the Allman Brothers back in August. Both bands do amazing covers. They did a ton of Rolling Stones at the Mule show I went to, and the Allman Brothers did The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down and Smokestack Lightning. Warren completely blows me away, he has so much power and charisma as a vocalist, guitarist, and all around as a person. The oceans made me, but who came up with love?
