every album pearl jam puts out we get tons of people on here who say if they release such and such song pearl jam will be huge again, they will sell 4.8 million copies of the album.
pearl jam will have 1 hit from here on out off each record and it will be the lead single. after that you will have the next single be a moderate success. this is because the first single will be a catchy rocker with a little mainstream vibe to it and the rest of the album will be rock that the masses don't like.
folks, nickleback are huge in this country now! the days of great rock music being a HUGE hit are over. unless ed starts singing about fucking because thats all people buy these days.0 -

I will have to disagree with your 'all people buy these days' comment....I would say very few of us on this board are into such garbage...PJ are way past the 'popularity contest' stage of their careers...and not that we're really talking about this, but I personally skip 'The Fixer' when I'm listening to the CD in my car..."No way to save someone who won't take the rope, and just lets go..."0 -

ummmm i wasn't talking about the people on this board. i was talking about the masses. the people here don't listen to junk i'm talking about the fact the nickleback's of the world being huge radio popular bands. i for one am glad pearl jam does not make music soccer mom's swoon to.0 -

but the question is why in the hell would you pay the nickel in the first place. i would rather have shards of glass in my eyes than listen to them.0 -

funny because it's probably true. with the shows they're selling their songs to lately (Flashforward and Cold Case) how can you rule out Grey's Anatomy? isn't the show based in seattle?Post edited by davidtrios on0 -

yes it is and Izzy and George and McStudly have a big surgery this week so hopefully Bailey will come to the rescue and force meredith's sister to sign the papers for the surgery. All this will be a worthless cause unless Alex can find a donor fast!

I really don't give a shit either way, just wanted to chime in and say that Just Breathe is getting quite a bit of radio play here in Philly
but then every DJ on my favorite radio station are seemingly going gaga over the whole Backspacer cd, they just can't say enough good things about it
so I assume that will increase some sales over the course of timeDon't come closer or I'll have to go0 -

I've heard it a lot in Philly as well and I don't really listen to radio all that much. WMMR has played it but plays the Fixer a lot more but 104.5 is playing Just Breathe a ton. I said after a day or two of Backspacer being released that Just Breathe would be a hit and I still think that. chicks will eat this song up.0 -

Chicks want something you could dance to....Lady Gaga and the like. And if they're into stuff like Pearl Jam, they want something upbeat. Not that acoustic PJ songs don't work on the radio....and it's not that Just Breathe is a bad song either...but it's kinda boring.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. You have it exactly wrong. There is a reason why "Last Kiss" was Pearl Jam's biggest crossover hit. It's the same reason why "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" was Green Day's biggest crossover hit. It's the same reason why the highest-charting rock song on the Hot 100 right now is Owl City's "Fireflies."I gather speed from you fucking with me.0 -

my local alternative rock station has been playing it a fair amount. today i was lucky enough to catch them playing what they call a 'double exposure', which included playing Just Breathe and Amongst The Waves. It was pretty nice to hear ATW on the radio, and I think they chose a good one to play.words seem so out of place.

On the Rock charts, "Just Breathe" is actually down one spot from its peak position of #22 last week to #23 this week. "The Fixer" is still sitting at #9 on the Rock charts after 17 weeks, falling one spot over the past week as well.
I was saying from the beginning that releasing Just Breathe as a single would be a brain-dead idea. Don't get me wrong, it's a great song. But after The Fixer's success on rock radio, I gotta believe that Got Some would have potential to top the charts. It's a 3 minute long, catchy, in-your-face rock song.
Pearl Jam used to not care about how their singles did on the charts. This was evidenced by the release of Who You Are and Nothing As It Seems as lead singles when each album had more "radio friendly" tunes. But it seems that now they actually are trying for chart success and I'm really surprised with the decision to release Just Breathe.
Edit: Is this post really wide on your guys' browsers? It is on mine and I have no idea why.
I hear Just Breathe regularly on a satellite radio station that is alternative/folk style and it feels just right. Glad to hear it. Moreover, I do wonder about the really wide posts that seem to have just started appearing...looks weird. So it's not just your browser, it's mine too. :?makes much more sense, to live in the present tense0 -

I am a woman and I like a little of both. I want to dance to the rough and rocking songs and then want to take it slow and easy with the ballads. Just Breathe is quite romantic and some people just aren't romantic. I'm glad Ed is.makes much more sense, to live in the present tense0
