Coincidence?

So, I thought about someone this morning who I used to work with about 8 years ago. I don't know why. I've not seen him in eight years. And I can say that I've not thought of him in at least the past 3 or 4 years.
Anyway, I check my Facebook inbox this evening and there's a message from him.

It happens to me often. I'm quite sure I experience it more than most people.
It's freaky/weird/ and strange.

About a year ago I was in the middle of doing something and I thought when I'm finished I'm going to call a great friend of mine, Tom, who moved away and whom I hadn't spoken to in about 3 or 4 months. About 10 minutes later I got a call from his wife telling me that he was dead. That was pretty eerie. He truly was a great guy and I miss him.Barrie, ON - Aug 22, 1998

syncronicity
With one breath, with one flow
You will know
Synchronicity
A sleep trance, a dream dance
A shared romance
Synchronicity
A connecting principle
Linked to the invisible
Almost imperceptible
Something inexpressible
Science insusceptible
Logic so inflexible
Causally connectible
Yet nothing is invincible
If we share this nightmare
Then we can dream
Spiritus mundi
If you act, as you think
The missing link
Synchronicity
We know you, they know me
Extrasensory
Synchronicity
A star fall, a phone call
It joins all
Synchronicity
It's so deep, it's so wide
Your inside
Synchronicity
Effect without a cause
Sub-atomic laws, scientific pause
Synchronicity...
Part 2
Another suburban family morning
Grandmother screaming at the wall
We have to shout above the din of our Rice Crispies
We can't hear anything at all
Mother chants her litany of boredom and frustration
But we know all her suicides are fake
Daddy only stares into the distance
There's only so much more that he can take
Many miles away
Something crawls from the slime
At the bottom of a dark Scottish lake
Another industrial ugly morning
The factory belches filth into the sky
He walks unhindered through the picket lines today
He doesn't think to wonder why
The secretaries pout and preen like
cheap tarts in a red light street
But all he ever thinks to do is watch
And every single meeting with his so-called superior
Is a humiliating kick in the crotch
Many miles away
Something crawls to the surface
Of a dark Scottish lake
Another working day has ended
Only the rush hour hell to face
Packed like lemmings into shiny metal boxes
Contestants in a suicidal race
Daddy grips the wheel and stares alone into the distance
He knows that something somewhere has to break
He sees the family home now looming in the headlights
The pain upstairs that makes his eyeballs ache
Many miles away
There's a shadow on the door
Of a cottage on the shore
Of a dark Scottish lake
Many miles away, many miles awayFor the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside
That it ain't no sin to be glad you're alive

Here's another one:
Last night I was reading a book by an American writer called Peter Hessler called 'Oracle Bones'. In it he interviews an American archeologist who makes a passing reference to the 'New Yorkers view of the world map'. This refers to a map produced by the New Yorker magazine which depicts the world as consisting mainly of Manhattan. I'd never heard of this before.
Anyway, I was just watching Series 3 Episode 12 of Northern Exposure and Joel Flashman makes a comment about the 'New Yorkers view of the world map' stuck up on the wall behind his desk in his doctors surgery.Post edited by Byrnzie on0 -

yep...it IS called synchronicity...
my mom and i always used to argue which was the correct term for it...cause she always calling it 'telepathy' so finally one time i went and got the big dictionary to show her that i was right by calling it sychronicity...
