Just to clear things up about bonnaroo..
2. There will be drugs, not a place intended for children.
drugs + heat= sometimes big mistake, so be careful, keep hydrated. They had paramedics everywhere that year I went. My friend and I also had to help a girl who passed out, so that was kinda scary.
3. The best part the music- this is usually a jam band festival, so more than likely PJ will be jammin out with someone else on stage. It happens sometimes. Plus you'll get to meet some bands, the bands hang out just like everyone else.
4. The bad part about music is they set up concerts at the same time so sometimes its hard to see all the bands you'd like to see.
5. the traffic in and out can be a hassal at times, so its best to stay there. Even leaving can take a few hours.
6. Manchester tn is in the middle of nowhere, so stock up before you get there! beer, water, liquor, food, etc..
7. This is an all day and all night party!!! Its a great experience, you can forget the world existed.
8. I wouldn't worry too much about anyone stealing your stuff, but you never know, so do lock up your car and any valuables. people do watch out for each other there.
9. There were showers the year I went. The first day was free, but then it was $5.
10. It is a whole nother world!! (you'll know what I mean when you get there)

Good points
1) Yes it's very very hot, and not much shade.
2) I swear there's no drugs at Bonnaroo
3&7) Yes the music is the best part. Be sure to save some energy, because the fun starts when the sun goes down. Last year on Friday and Saturday night bands were on til 3:30 and 5:30 respectively.
9) Yep, prepared to be DIRTY
10) So true - Bonnaroo is like nothing else0 -

yeah, they sell ice at centeroo. it was partly melted by the time we got it back to our car, but was enough to keep everything nice and frosty...6/26/98, 8/17/00, 10/8/00, 12/8/02, 12/9/02, 4/25/03, 5/28/03, 6/1/03, 6/3/03, 6/5/03, 6/6/03, 6/12/03, 6/13/03, 6/15/03, 6/18/03, 6/21/03, 6/22/03, 7/12/03, 7/14/03, 10/3/04, 10/5/04, 9/9/05, 9/11/05, 9/16/05, 5/16/06, 5/17/06, 5/19/06, 6/30/06, 7/23/06, 8/5/07, 6/30/08, 8/23/09, 8/24/09, 5/4/10, 5/7/10, 9/3/11, 9/4/11, 10/11/13, 10/17/14, 8/20/160 -

depends where they park you. you don't get an option, you just go where they tell you. i had a pretty nice spot last time...probably about a 20 minute walk from the entrance to the venue...could hear the main stage from the tent, so during petty (in '06) we just chilled at the car to regain strength for the post-midnight shows...6/26/98, 8/17/00, 10/8/00, 12/8/02, 12/9/02, 4/25/03, 5/28/03, 6/1/03, 6/3/03, 6/5/03, 6/6/03, 6/12/03, 6/13/03, 6/15/03, 6/18/03, 6/21/03, 6/22/03, 7/12/03, 7/14/03, 10/3/04, 10/5/04, 9/9/05, 9/11/05, 9/16/05, 5/16/06, 5/17/06, 5/19/06, 6/30/06, 7/23/06, 8/5/07, 6/30/08, 8/23/09, 8/24/09, 5/4/10, 5/7/10, 9/3/11, 9/4/11, 10/11/13, 10/17/14, 8/20/160 -

There is a limit and it has sold out in recent years, but not until within a few weeks of the festival. However, if they have any really good acts left for additions to the lineup, this year could sell out. The limit is somewhere between 80,000 and 90,000.0 -
1. When we went, we got robbed. We left our stuff out to go see a show and when we got back, our cooler full of beer/food, a chair, my hat, and some other things were stolen. Everyone left stuff out and we jsut had bad luck, but I would be more cautious if I were to go again.
2. Tickets can go fast but the should be available for at least a few weeks.
3. It's a crazy all day and all night festival. Pace yourself and enjoy the show. It's one of the few festivals that gets nearly everything right.0 -
So can we grill while camping. I plan on selling hamburgs, hotdogs and veggie burgs.0

1. I've had a couple chairs disappear over 3 Bonnaroos, but that's all. Just keep this in mind: Wheeled coolers = easier to steal. And if you have something valuable, lock it in your car. Reports of theft have risen in the past few Bonnaroos.
2. True, but this year they did manage to keep the lineup secret, so I think there will be some good additions to the lineup. So I wouldn't wait too long.
3. Good advice. Pace yourself (shows can go until 4 or 5 in the morning), and be prepared for anything. The last 2 years have been very hot at Bonnaroo, but the year before there was lots of rain. Just make sure you are prepared for both. Hope for some rain to cool things off, but not enough to create mud pits everywhere.0 -
I have a question for anybody with Bonnaroo experience. I've heard from some friends of a friend that they year they went they had a lot of problems with "dirty hippies constantly bothering them and begging". Obviously not the most P.C. way for me to ask the question, but is this an issue? It doesn't seem like it should be with ticket prices so expensive, but I'm curious, still.
Also, I have been to the Gorge in WA for shows on two different occasions. Can anybody compare the Bonnaroo experience to the Gorge?
Thanks!0 -
