Yeah I'm looking forward to getting a powernap in before PJ now.RedMosquito02 wrote:Hit it on the head GivenToCarve...
Thank you if I think I know what you're referring to. It's a 100% false rumor that MTV has anything to do with Bonnaroo other than that they show up in an RV and do a few interviews. Take a look at Rothbury and tell me a festival with DMB, John Mayer, Snoop Dogg is not of the same "pop" caliber.Camden I '06, Camden II '06, Bonnaroo '08, Camden I '08, Camden II '08, Philly Spectrum II/III/IV '09, MSG I '10, MSG II '10, Made In America '12, Wrigley '13, Brooklyn II '13, Philly I '13, Philly II '13, ...0

I think it's the best option. Some people leave Sunday to get back to work on Monday, so they don't get to see the Sunday night band. Saturday night is kinda like saving the best for last, while also making sure the festival still has full attendance.Camden I '06, Camden II '06, Bonnaroo '08, Camden I '08, Camden II '08, Philly Spectrum II/III/IV '09, MSG I '10, MSG II '10, Made In America '12, Wrigley '13, Brooklyn II '13, Philly I '13, Philly II '13, ...0

thats real nice..Michael Houser was a friend of mine, and he died from cancer...nice going.
Do the majority of you guys have to be jackasses ALL the time on here???
Look people...the festival is in the South....and WSP is a Southern band...it makes perfect sense for them to play seeing how they replaced another Southern band. did anyone here really think Zeppelin or Clapton was going to play because someone posted it????? Those guys are all in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame...they are LEGENDS....they would have knocked PJ off of the headlining spot...then you guys would have been REALLY pissed.0

Thank god I chose not to go to the Roo now. I'd shoot myself in the head if I had to listen to Jack Johnson live....and an extended opening set before PJ?
 Ewwww.0

People have very, very, very high expectations with each announcement.
The fact of the matter is.. any time you hear a 'roo announcement coming, just remember.. Pearl Jam is the headliner. Whoever is being announced will be a smaller then Pearl Jam.
I was hoping this last one would have included Kings Of Leon.. but Les Claypool works well too.2004 - 10/1, 10/11
 2005 - 9/15, 9/16, 9/30, 10/1, 10/3
 2006 - 5/5, 5/12, 5/13, 5/27, 5/28, 5/30, 6/1, 6/3, 6/23, 7/22, 7/23, 12/2
 2007 - 6/27, 8/3
 2008 - 6/14, 6/19, 6/20, 6/22, 6/24, 6/25, 6/27, 6/28, 6/30, 7/10

so glad I did not pony up for that festie
None of the festivals look particularly good this year IMHO0

I'm really hoping JJ doesn't cut into any of PJs alloted time. They mentioned him playing an 'extended' set starting at sunset. Sunset is after 8:00 in June."Memories like fingerprints are slowly raising."0

I don't think that part is mentioned on the Bonnaroo site, only a news article about the changes. It could very well be that Jack Johnson plays the same (approx.) 6:30-8 slot that the Allman Brothers Band would've had.“Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies — ‘God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.’” - Kurt Vonnegut0

it says it clearly on the website:
WIDESPREAD PANIC JOINS BONNAROO 2008 LINE UP!
Plus LES CLAYPOOL, CHALI 2NA OF JURASSIC 5, SUPERDRAG, WHAT MADE MILWAUKEE FAMOUS, ADELE, GRAND OLE PARTY, AND THE POSTELLES.
The Bonnaroo Music And Arts Festival is pleased to announce that Widespread Panic will now close the 2008 festival, headlining the main stage on Sunday evening, June 15.
Jack Johnson has chosen to join his friends Pearl Jam on the main stage Saturday night stepping into the slot vacated by the Allmans. Jack will perform beginning at sunset, to be followed by Pearl Jam's closing main stage set.
We're also excited to note the additions of Les Claypool, Chali 2na of Jurassic 5, Superdrag, What Made Milwaukee Famous, Adele, Grand Ole Party, and The Postelles to this year's festival line up.0

            Widespread Panic is a great f'n band!!0

This is great news. Jack Johnson should not be a headliner and will be an amazing opener for pj. See you at the roo!0

Is that because they believed the 2006 rumor that MTV "bought out" Bonnaroo? If so, school their asses and thell them MTV never bought anything, and that Roo is still solely owned and run by Superfly/AC Entertainment.
If they call it that because of the lineup or some other reason, then... that's just like their opinion man.
As for the WSP announcement... by the end of the 08 fest, WSP will have closed out Roo 3 of the last 4 years, all of which I will have seen. I don't mind them, but I'm not a fan, either, so I'd be lying if I said I was anything but disappointed by this news.0

alot of buzz about this announcement....and alot of speculation about how this will impact Pearl Jams set....
 IT WILL NOT!
Jack Johnson will play a full set, but his full set is NOT EVEN CLOSE to what a full Allman Brothers set would be......so dont even sweat it, we still will get an epic Pearl Jam performance that will easily blow away any other show on the mini tour________________________________________________

 This.
They aren't going to bill PJ as the main headliner and then turn around and take time away from them. thats just silly.
Jack is playing the Allman's slot, which would have been 1:30-2 hours anyway. So in all honesty, Jack is playing just as long as he probably would AND playing to more people, cause people will be waiting around for PJ to start, rather than trying to leave the festival earlier. It's kind of a win/win for Jack Johnson. The Man has a branch office in each of our brains, his corporate emblem is a white albatross, each local rep has a cover known as the Ego, and their mission in this world is Bad Shit.0

Good point. I think this move makes sense from many perspectives.

 .
And hell I've seen Soon Forget once in 14 shows so I would welcome it. And it would be kind of cool to see Ed up there with the uke in front of ~80,000 people. The Man has a branch office in each of our brains, his corporate emblem is a white albatross, each local rep has a cover known as the Ego, and their mission in this world is Bad Shit.0
