Anyone else gotten this album yet? I know it came out back in August but I love this album!!! Think it's one of their best long with Dosage and the self-titled album from '95. Saw them in Cincinnati back in August too and they were GREAT!!!! Awesome live show, highly recommend to anyone!! So what does everyone else think?

I also like CS. Have seen them 3 three times in small venues. You and I will probably get slammed for admitting to liking them. :shock:If I had known then what I know now...

Why is that?
They just seem to be one of those bands that a lot of PJ fans like to say "suck." The critics have always been pretty hard on them too. Their DVD with the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra brings tears to my eyes. :shock:If I had known then what I know now...

I think the hate stems more from them not having their ridiculously awesome guitar player, and chasing the charts in such a ridiculous manner. The last few tunes on the radio have been vomit inducing.
I don't think they have any amazing albums, but the first couple had quite a few kickass tunes. They took a turn down a crappier road around the time that Varsity Blues song came out........also, see Why pt 2.0 -
Their music makes me want to poke out my eardrums.0

They're harmless enough...nothing life changing; just rock and roll.If I had known then what I know now...

collective soul is a great band. However, I think they are better live. Ed's voice just sounds too over produced studio wise. Their live show is kick ass. saw them on the dosage tour and the rabbit tour back in Sept. They have a ton of great songs and true their later radio singles have been on the popier side which is bland, but the latter albums still have some great tunes. "hymn for my father" off Rabbit is simply a beautiful great song.PJ: 10/14/00 06/09/03 10/4/09 11/15/13 11/16/13 10/08/14

That still sticks out for me from the first time I saw them live -- it was killer.imalive wrote:plus, their lead singer is named Ed and they released (at least one) CD only at Target!

haters and non haters alike: watch the WHOLE video

The joy of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra literally brings tears to my eyes. Really. Cut music in the schools? I don't think so.
and don't rip on Ed...he's just having fun.
this, from the youtube comments:
"Jole Kosch playing a Mirage guitar jacked into an AC30 pushing a Marshal cab = most epic rock riff tone ever."
I don't even know what that means!

Glad to hear there's other fans on here!! And I agree that they are phenomenal live!!! Saw them in 07 at Louisville Slugger Stadium then this past August in Cincinnati. Looking forward to them coming back soon. Off the new album, I really dig "Welcome All Again," "Misunderstanding," "You," and "Staring Down."0
