Oh my! Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks....ABSOLUTELY MUST HEAR THIS BAND!!
Stephen used to be in Pavement, one of the Sleater-Kinney girls is also in this band.
Psychedelic 90s-ish rock, clever words, great tunes. I love this band.

I like all of there music. The last album the first with the drummer from SK was very good.
I need to listen to that album and the others more often.Charlotte 00 | Charlotte 03 | Asheville 04 | Atlanta 12 | Greenville 16 | Columbia 16 |Seattle 18 | Nashville 22 | Ohana Festival 24 x2 | Atlanta 25 x20 -
Yes, a great band! I saw SM & TJ do a small show at Maxwell's in Hoboken, NJ (the place only holds like 200 people) a few years ago and Janet Weiss was selling the merch that night and I bought a SM&TJ shirt from her. It was cool.4/30/03, 7/5/03, 7/6/03, 7/8/03, 7/9/03, 7/11/03, 7/12/03, 7/14/03, 9/28/04, 9/29/04, 10/1/04, 9/30/05, 10/1/05, 10/3/05, 5/4/06 (Letterman Mini-Concert), 5/5/06, 5/27/06, 5/28/06, 6/1/06, 6/3/06, 6/19/08, 6/20/08, 6/24/08, 6/25/08, 6/27/08, 6/28/08, 6/30/08, 10/27/09, 10/28/09, 10/30/09, 10/31/09, 5/15/10, 5/18/10, 5/20/10, 5/21/100

so the newone mirror traffic is out and i'm digging it. Not as much as Real Emotional trash but here are some really cool songs. I read a review and i seem to agree he should have toned it down to 11 maybe 12 songs and it would hold my attention more. Some of the tracks are not as strong as others.
My 3 favs so far are:
Forever 28
Spazz
Stick figures in love
Only listened to it twice so far so it could change!Charlotte 00 | Charlotte 03 | Asheville 04 | Atlanta 12 | Greenville 16 | Columbia 16 |Seattle 18 | Nashville 22 | Ohana Festival 24 x2 | Atlanta 25 x20 -
I LOVE Stephen Malkmus!!
Seen The Jicks/Pavement a few times.
I love his vocals, his guitar playing style, his song structure and general attitude to how his music is produced and presented.
Unfortunate that Janet Weiss (Sleater Kinney) left because she was amazing, but Jake Morris is great and looks crazy/awesome playing live.
Songs to check out for the uninitiated;
Jenny & The Ess-Dog
It Kills
(Do Not Feed The) Oyster
No One Is (As I Are Be)
Gardenia
Spazz
Malediction
1% Of One
Walk Into The Mirror
Jo-Jo's Jacket
To name but a few.
I seem to remember reading somewhere as well that at one of the Tibetan Freedom Concerts (RIP Adam Y) that PJ and Pavement were playing, Malkmus lent Eddie his guitar. 8-)"I get into a state of consciousness that I can't explain. It is about feeling and not thinking. I get positive chills and insight into things that I can't get to any other way. It is Healing of the Soul." - Mike McCready0
