Dislike the name Pearl Jam?

Does anyones else dislike the name Pearl Jam as the bands name? When I talk about them to others that aren't fans I feel like the name is almost silly. :oops:
1996: Randall's Island, NY - 2

    I think it's an awesome band name. Not to offend any one but would you prefer Foo Fighters or Fat Boy Slim maybe

    something is silly to people who don't understand the roots of things come from. a lot of things seem silly to me until i research them out and find why they did what they did. plus it is only a name.

    No, not at all but when you think of all time awesome band names I think the name is not up their. The music definitely is though.

    the music is all that matters, and that pearl jam name will be "right up there" with all the other all time awesome band names in the rock n roll hall of fame one day...guaranteed.

    There are a lot of silly or weird band names, but I mean, Pearl Jam is something I have gotten used to and grown to love. Personally I think it kind of has like the sound of a metal band or something. But like I said, there are so many dumb/weird names out there for bands, I can totally live with Pearl Jam.
    words seem so out of place.

    yes this is what they actually mean. someone told me 2 years ago at a nyc meetup as to why pearl jam are named pearl jam. its subtle way to honor andy wood/mlb.
