A song that is better live than in studio..I would put out there Checkpoint Charlie Berlin 1996 as a top 5 live version..others of note???

    jones beach ny 2000....i think it was 2000.........mike's guitar work is spot on.

    st. louis, 2003. probably because it was the opener (didn't expect that one) to an amazing show and the best seats i've ever had for a show -- 10 rows back dead center. sounded amazing.

    I'm a fan of the 06 version. In particular the last 06 San Francisco show, I forget the date, got a really good version of Present Tense.

    marseille france 07 version was amazing as well.........too bad the boot sound quality isnt very good.

    there is a version from the eruo 2000 tour where ed sings an emotional song before it, i always thought it was letter to the dead, but regardless of the name it rocked

    The less Matt is inovolved throughout the song, the more I like it.

    There are some great versions from 2000. Philly 1 and Nashville are two of em.

    It is an amazing song which I recently had a newfound appreciation for so I listened to every version of this song on iPod one after the other so I could put the one I like most on a playlist. I really like SF 06 and Denver 06 versions. I have about 12 or so live versions but one are earlier than the 2000 shows. I'd like to hear some from 96 or 98 for sure.
