  • I am disappointed with the new album. Blah to me. Glad some of you like it though.

if you're saying it again and again in every thread, wouldn't that in fact make you, yourself, the 'Blandspacer'? :o

Not cool dude. You intentionally took my quote out of context. It was:
Yeah i jokingly referred to it as Blandspacer. I say it in every thread: It's not bad by any means. But it's not great either. It's solidly good.

So when viewing the whole quote, you see I don't call it "Blandspacer" in every thread. I say "it's not bad but it's not great" in every thread.

Not cool, indeed. You assume to know my intentions.
  • i think the only thing that i thoroughly enjoyed about this album is that theres none of that political bullshit that plauged S/T and drove me fucking crazy about that album. because of that it is immediately better than S/T, but not by much. other than the 3 song stretch from just breathe to unthought known, the rest of the album leaves me feeling lukewarm. and having that piece of shit version of speed of sound instead of the demo really pissed me off too.
In July 2007 Densmore said that he would not rejoin The Doors unless it was fronted by Eddie Vedder. Densmore says, "I play with Jim. If there's someone of that level, OK. I'm not gonna join them with Ian. That's not to diss Ian, he's a good singer - but he's no Jim Morrison. Eddie Vedder? My God, there's a singer."
  • Your crazy.... If Johnny Guitar isn't creative then I dont know what is. that song has so many cool changes in it.

Johnny Guitar is a normal, really cheesy, rock song, with an odd structure, if you think that's odd or creative you should listen to more music.
"If my thoughts, dreams, could be seen, they'd probably put my head, in a guillotine, but it's alright ma, it's life and life only."

  • ah the joys of internet forums, everyones a critic , everyone knows better..

I'd kind of hoped here I'd find a place to enthuse passionately about stuff with I am passionately enthusiastic about, In the words of my hero " life is fucking precious, love & life ", Backspacer, and all the back catalogue are one of the positives that enhance my life. they're all different beasts, and brilliant.

carry on moaning, I'm off to pogo around the room.

fireladie - i hear ya. i have been so pumped to share the joy that this album brings me with likeminded people, but it seems like there's way more negativity and criticism in the pearl jam fucking fan club than anywhere else on the net.
if you want to hear something i'm pissed off about, it's that a lot of people here have put their fucking overanalytical overjudgemental self-righteous whingeing hats on.
as i've said before, everyone is welcome to their own opinions, but geez it'd be nice to hear some more positive stuff in here. constructive criticism is good, but it's also fucking boring.
    peace all.

Who here is being overanalytical? Its just an observations. Why would you ever come to this board is everything everybody said about PJ was how awesome they are. I don't know why people feel they have to love everything PJ does.

I can't belive a band that has made Vitalogy, no code, yeild, riot act has put out these last two albums. I like the new album but its so average compared to what they used to do and are clearly capible of. I know they are maturing but these new songs are so basic and un-original. They have no jams, no guitar solo's (5 seconds does not count) and 3 of these songs were clearly written when eddie was writing into the wild. I like the album as i do self titled but i can't belive it took 3 years to make this. Hopefully they get their creativity back. They seem to be digressing with these last two.

Why are you posting in OUR forum ??

    hey heidi,
sorry about the outburst, just struck a chord. i absolutely don't want everything everybody says about PJ to be how awesome they are. as i've said in other threads, i love that some PJ songs i hate are some other people's favourites, and some PJ songs i love are other people's least favourite. i think it's a beautiful thing that their music appeals to different people in different ways at different times, and i think that's a testiment to the band that they can produce songs and albums that provoke such polarising opinions.
i certainly don't love everything that PJ does, but i was just saying that positivity about the good parts is sometimes more fun to talk about than negativity about the not-so great parts. only venting cos i've been on here for the last 4 days and i'm reading more negative stuff than positive.
each to their own and love to all :)
