I don't post much, to say I post frequently if at all is an understatement but, I have to state this song is incredible. Ed and the boys nailed it. I haven't had such an emotional reaction to a song since Black. I cannot wait to hear this live. I love this entire album. PJ is just getting better with each album. Keep it coming fellas.

They never walk the same path twice, do they? It's amazing how diverse their entire catalog is.

Im really digging this track too, especially when ed starts to sing "One man stands" as well as the breakdown. Plus the piano adds a nice touch to the song i think.

man, I hope this song turns around for me. I feel like i'm losing my grip on PJ and just dont get it anymore. Everybody seems to like this song but I cant even get through this song without letting my attention wander or feel inclined to skip it when i listen to the album.

I'm with you. I don't get it either. It sounds too cheesy for me. That progression is like a U2 song or something, I can't figure it out, but I don't like it. I'm surprised to see so many people like it. One of these days it will hit me, what song it sounds exactly like.

damn, i feel sorry for you. To me this is the most powerful song PJ's ever written.

....i have to go put it on now.
  • I love Force of Nature. I think it's interesting how they placed it at the end of the album. Casual fans who stop listening at The Fixer won't even hear what may be the best song on the album.

For you guys that aren't fans, just keep listening. It took several listens to click for me, but if finally did.

Personally, I think the most U2-esque song on the album is Unthought Known. Great song, but you switch out Bono for Eddie and Edge for Stone and you got yourself a U2 song. I prefer Eddie and Stone though.

I like FoN but I think Unthought Known is a much stronger song....

  • All,

Thanks for making my first post a memorable one. This album is one of their best. Yes, as opinions go, it's different from previous projects but the band is very creative with the various arrangements and sounds. They seem to be in balance with each other. This is just my opinion but there are too many people trying to compare this to previous albums. That is fine but you may miss out on truly appreciating the album for what it is. If you are a true PJ fan, one would know that they don't try and imitate previous efforts but grow from them. I cannot wait to hear it live. I got 3 Philly shows to look forward to and hope to hear this song and all the others during that time.
  • This song is incredible. The feeling im getting from it.....
Its a beautifully (&perfect) arranged, composed and delivered story that makes me just want to keep listening regarding the message.

I cant decide if Force of Nature or Unthought Known is my favorite song on backspacer. The breakdown is so powerful. But does anyone else think the song would be even better if they went right into the chorus (one man stands....) after the breakdown instead of just dying off and starting over in terms of energy.

song starts off decent, and then really picks up into damn good through the second half....

it definitely is a great song, it took a while to click for me though....i thought it sounded kind of formulaic and lame at first...but now i love it.

Especially when he says "makes me ache, makes me shake..." and the second time he says "waiting for her to come home." something about the way he says home in that part gives me the chills.

  • Force of Nature is an awesome song! I really love how it builds and the guitars jam. Eddie's lyrics are perfect too! It is easily in the top 5 from this awesome CD, for me, and the more I listen to it I think it moves up higher. I also think that some people might not get past the first few songs, and they will miss this gem.

    Play it loud. It rocks!
  • this is by far the best song on backspacer. i cant stop listenin to it. my gf is startin to hate me.
    Just, not enough.
    I need more.
    Nothing seems to satisfy.
I said, I dont want it.
    I just need it.

  • My favorite song right at first listen. Great music by Mike and shows some classic rock influence. $.02

  • Yeeeeeeeeah, I unfortunately am one of those people this track is going to take a long time to grow on. Mike has composed some amazing riffs, but I just don't find this is one of them.
