Can Eddie Vedder get sued for sounding too much like himself? (Ala John Fogerty).

  • I said the same thing when I first heard it...I like to call it Tuolumme 2: Back to the Wild :-) It's so blatant it was from ITW.

He's acknowledged this in several interviews. No harm no foul.

What, will he sue himself for making a song that sounds like another one of his songs? I hope he gets a lot.

    Ha.

Maybe he will get enough to want to do it again. Maybe we are in for a new album with 12 Tuolumnes!

If this happens then In Hiding should sue Light Years for trying to be Binaural's version of the Yield hit.

Wow. I don't see much similarity at all. Puzzles and Games sounded a lot like GTF and a bit like In Hiding, which is why they scrapped it in favor of what became Light Years, but I don't see a lot of similarity in the final tune.

OK... maybe that's a stretch... but I feel like they're the equivelant track on each album. How about this one: Blood should sue Comotose for stealing its anger.
  • I do wonder if Eddie took the proper steps

Into The Wild was released on J Records, while Backspacer is on the Monkeywrench Label (PJ's own)

Tuolumne is published by EV Songs Unlimited
Just Breathe is published by Innocent Bystander

    interesting.

    interesting.

I don't think they are similar-enough to warrant a suit. Tuolomne is an instrumental interlude. Just Beathe sounds similar, but it's not as if it's the *same* guitar part. Listen to them back to back. Similar, not the same, though.

I think this say more about the absence of anthems on Binaural than it does about a similarity between In Hiding and Light Years.

Comatose and Blood feature screams, but I would argue that the former is imbued with an infectious sense of fun along with the anger, while the latter is not. Comatose makes me want to dance. Blood makes me want to break some shit.
