Im so tired of people sayig listen to it 90 times first!

Listen fools......I can listen to a really bad radio song 90 times, and it would be stuck on my brain eventually. Does that means its good? Pearl Jam needs to just make what comes natural musically! I mean stop trying to be pop music, and certainly stop trying to be punk rock ( i mean your all prob over 45 years old) Ed you do not have a voice to sing technical long ballads..... you used to have a voice that could show more range, and power, but even then it wasnt meant for LONG TECHNICAL BALLADS. What is this shit creed? Wheres the great guitar riffs that the BAND used to create to start a song.....this shit sounds so slick and has no personality. OK SO MAYBE IF I LISTEN TO IT 90 TIMES ILL LIKE IT....WHATEVER. MY FRIEND JUST GAVE ME THE NEW BLACK CROWS CD...NOW THATS HOW A BAND MATURES,,,OR AT LEAST FINDS THEMSELVES IF THEY WERE LOST AT ONE TIME....EXCELLENT WRITING , MUSIC, AND CREATIVITY... IF IT SOUNDS LIKE I AM PISSED OFF, WELL I AM NOT..LOL ITS JUST WHAT I THOUGHT AFTER MY 6TH LISTEN TO THE ALBUM.
LETS HOPE THEY FIND THEMSELVES NEXT TIME...

Well all the capitalization makes it sound like you are.
It's a good album but I'm not too into it. Nothing's horrible on it, but I don't think anything is great either. And I can't believe how people are talking up Unthought Known and Amongst the Waves. They're both good songs, but some people are saying they are among the best the band has ever created....which I respectfully disagree with. At the end of the day, it's 11 new PJ songs so that's cool. And maybe some of my opinions on the songs will change once I see them live

sorry for caps everyone....i hit it by accident while typing, and was too lazy to unlock it.
No, no, no....Disagree. Have you been to his solo shows? Ed's voice is in prime shape; if there was ever any doubt (and for me, there wasn't) his shows in Hawaii this year dispelled every bit of that. Stunning... beautiful, rich, and stunning. I was totally carried away. His voice is perfect for ballads and anything else he chooses to sing - in my humble opinion, of course.
agreed. he had a lot more trouble with ballads back in the early days.
No i was not at his solo show... you are very lucky.
Ed can sing still,,no doubt. i was reading a story about ed , when he met a fan back stage, and he asked the fan... hey what song you wanna here tonight, and the kid said NOTHNGMAN. ed replied,,hmm i dont know if i can do that one tonight,,what else you got..lol My point being,,this album is very popy and too words and not enough mike in some of the songs. I just dont believe alot of the songs,,i can not travel with it, and feel the story... like say Nothingman for instance. It could be tbecause Ed did not write alot of the songs, so he doesnt have that investment internally ,,what the fuck do i know.
I totally agree, and respect evolution. I also mis mike being heard more on the record. As for the crows... i really like Luther's playing, and think he adds so much to the band. I actually always liked their southern roots, and songs...like Thorn in my pride for instance,,,,which has a county aspect, so the new album is really nice for me.
Sorry you didn't get to any of the solo shows - they were amazing, and yes, I have been extremely lucky - suprises me still. I think this album will prove itself to those who don't immediately take to it. I think the meanings will rise out of the songs. Some may seem simply stated, and I thought the same, to some degree. I'm finding things are different, yes, but I still see my old friend in there in a big way. They do have to remain relevant after all, so that means they must change to some degree. I feel like I don't even have the full grasp of the album yet - but thats me, and I do like to take my time with these things. Sometimes the intricacies jump out at me after a long day of work, or a conversation with a friend, or just some internal recognition. I simply don't feel that I have had enough time to make a full decision on the whole album, yet. That said - I genuinely like this album and I know as time passes most of these songs will continue to resonate with me. I just hope that sceptical fans will give it a chance and not condemn it without a deeper look.
This is great.
THAT, my friend, takes lazy to a whole nuther level!!!!
