Johnny Guitar
I'm seeing a lot of mixed feelings about this song. Some saying it's the worst on the album.
What gives? I think the song is really fucking cool. The way Ed phrases the lines and sings the song is really different and awesome to me.

I'm not a big fan of their punkier numbers, but they made this interesting with the uber cool arrangement. Has the classic left turns that have been missing from PJ for awhile.0

Ohhhh, Johnny loves his Women!Straight down the center for a hot chicken dinner!0

I think the song is really good. Not only is it funky like something they might have wrote years ago. And the vocal style is so different, it's impressive to see another side of Ed, yet again.0

Johnny Guitar is catchy, cool and quick. I just don't understand why fans expect Rapture whenever PJ releases an album. I hated "Parachutes" and "Help, Help" in the past. But I'm sure those songs had more significance to others more than me.He who forgets will be destined to remember...0

The song is even better when you realize Ed wrote the lyrics about this album artwork.

In his exhaustively researched book Dream Boogie: The Triumph of Sam Cooke (2005), the author claims that Watson was an actual pimp, as well as a performer. Watson himself, however, reportedly felt "ambivalent" about prostituting women, even though it "paid better" than music. He who forgets will be destined to remember...0

“It's actually not the first time we've got our inspiration from something on a bathroom wall. It's a made-up story about a kid falling in love with a girl on a record cover. I imagine that must have happened a few times.” -- ev

i think i hate it because i went into it expecting it to be a song heavy on mike's side, like another ledbetter number. i just dont think mike gets enough love anymore. In July 2007 Densmore said that he would not rejoin The Doors unless it was fronted by Eddie Vedder. Densmore says, "I play with Jim. If there's someone of that level, OK. I'm not gonna join them with Ian. That's not to diss Ian, he's a good singer - but he's no Jim Morrison. Eddie Vedder? My God, there's a singer."0

Boy meets girl, really? The whole pimp thing was cool though. Haha.He who forgets will be destined to remember...0

I don't care to much for the song, but I do really like the story in it. Its pretty awesome that Ed came up with this whole tale from the pic on the album cover.0

Hear hear! At first, i thought the lyrics were that way because of Ed trying to fit them to the beat...and then I noticed that the beat is pretty straight but accentuated. It's very odd and I like it. It's tied for my favorite song on the album next to Gonna See My Friend and Unthought Known. The band shines on these songs. Poppy or not, this album is amazing and I like it.Chicago 8-23-090
