Johnny Guitar
I'm seeing a lot of mixed feelings about this song. Some saying it's the worst on the album.
What gives? I think the song is really fucking cool. The way Ed phrases the lines and sings the song is really different and awesome to me.

kinda like the who's "pictures of lilly"...just pearl jam-style
and when you say shit, are we to take you literally?
Hear hear! At first, i thought the lyrics were that way because of Ed trying to fit them to the beat...and then I noticed that the beat is pretty straight but accentuated. It's very odd and I like it. It's tied for my favorite song on the album next to Gonna See My Friend and Unthought Known. The band shines on these songs. Poppy or not, this album is amazing and I like it.
"With a leg under a red dress i wish i could see
further north a warmth alive and lingering"
Now when has Ed ever been so humorous and light hearted with his lyrics, yet it is hugely descriptive and has loads of personality... pure brilliance, one of the best tunes on the record, definitely!
Song just aint doing it...In fact Backspacer was almost the first album in the catalouge where I dont skip a song...But Johnny Guitar stands in the way. Its too bad because it has a kick ass name and really makess you wanna hear it...Then comes the dissappointment.
