ok, a few friends and i are trying to figure out what the exact difference would be if you purchase 'backspacer' at target/itunes versus purchasing it through the tenclub.
is it simply the packaging? am i missing something?
been trying to look through the various threads and haven't been able to find anything that answers that question. can anyone help?
I'm not so lazy right now... This is actually from a Yahoo story that was just posted yesterday.
"The Target discs will link to a virtual "vault" of 11 concerts spanning Pearl Jam's career, from which fans can choose two. The band will also create an organic cotton T-shirt to be sold at Target, with proceeds earmarked for the hunger relief charity Feeding America. And in September, a Cameron Crowe-directed TV ad will air featuring footage shot during a private performance at Seattle's Showbox in late May."
And again, that isn't an official statement from Pearl Jam or Target.
Available only at Target, Target.com and iTunes.com/Target, Pearl Jams newest CD Backspacer featuring the hit singles The Fixer and Got some, including bonus content of full concert downloads.
That says NOTHING of a 'vault' or of spanning the career.
Did the "Vault" comment come from the billboard article? If so, it may have just been the writer who used that term incorrectly.

Unfortunately, 10c have refused to clarify what, if any, extras the 10c version will have other than different packaging. Someone else advised me to buy from 10c anyway, as they usually come through for fans. I live in Europe so Target is not an option, and 10c confirmed to me that the Euro release would NOT have extra content.
On another note, can someone post some advice on what the best shows of the 12 listed are please? In terms of setlist and audience participation. Thanks.
When we found the things we loved,
They were crushed and dying in the dirt.
We tried to pick up the pieces,
And get away without getting hurt,
But they caught us at the state line,
And burned our cars in one last fight,
And left us running burned and blind,
Chasing something in the night.
wow what a major letdown. i already have all these on my ipod. very cool to see 6/3/06 included. one of my all time fave concerts I've been to.

Huge buzzkill... I love the 10c but............. this had a chance to be something awesome and I would have definitely bought another cd at Target in addition to the one I preordered from the 10c if these were going to be true vault shows. Now I'll just stick to the 10c version since there's no need now for the Target one.

i might buy backspacer at target if the tshirt is cool looking. I'm such a sucker for pj tshirts.
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
Cool. Thanks for the heads up. Will now stop worrying about the Target version.
i think its not just the Target version, it says CD so Im assuming all CDs regardless of where you buy it, Target or 10C or Independent Record store, they are all enhanced.
I already have all those bootlegs though :(

without going home and checking the 2005/2006 bootlegs on my shelf, are any of these shows that we didnt get before?
Nope.

This is something in addition to the new album. They're hardly going to go crazy over the bonus material for fear of it overshadowing the main product itself. 99% of the people buying the album will probably notown any live recordings other than maybe Benaroya Hall or Live On Two Legs so for them it'll be a real treat. They're hardly going to be thinking "what can we put as bonus features to ensure our fans buy it" because they don't need to market the product to us in the same was as to Johnny Punter going into a store and maybe having to make a choice between the PJ album and something else. It's perceived added value to people like this that they're aiming for.
It seems people are more upset that the bonus material isn't what they want than they are excited about the new album.

So you know exactly what the band was thinking? Who did you talk to in the band?
You really think that the people here and in the Ten Club only make up 1% of the buyers for the album?

I think you are over thinking my post. I can't wait for the new music from Backspacer.
But.......
If they are going to the trouble of making shows available it would have been great if they were shows that weren't already released.
Maybe they weren't prepared to spend the money to mix some "real" vault shows just to give them away. The ones they are giving away now were already mixed so no added expense - it makes good business sense.
But I think a lot of people, like me, read into the term "vault" and and assumed it meant something it didn't. I'll get over it... its all good.

People are bitching about free shit? Nice...
Well... its not really free if I have to buy a CD to get it, right?
And... nothing is really free in life, btw.
It would have been nice to get the older shows in all honesty but when I pre-ordered the CD I didn't know that the CD would be enhanced, so I bought expecting nothing else but the CD, so I lose nothing.
I can't wait for this album to drop, the wait is killin' me!
One more thing why are some of you assuming that only the Target CDs are the ones that are enhanced? You guys really think that they pressed CDs especially for Target and pressed non-enhanced CDs for 10C purchases? I don’t think so.

Another great post from our friend SolarWorld. You should change your name to Mr. Happy. Or maybe Muddy Mudskipper? Or keep it real and go with Miserable Fan.

I actually agree with Solar in this instance. Don't assume certain shows will/will not get released and you won't be disappointed.

You know, I'm starting to think that is the case. Everything I can find in regards to the 'vault' goes back to that original article.

If so, has anyone in the US that has received their copy been able to access the free downloads? All I get is directed to this page. :?
Since when are Santiago and Halifax in the US?
