    I've told this a few times on the old pit, but, living in Cambridge I sometimes talk to people who knew, met or saw Nick Drake when he was a student here. One mate of mine saw Nick play an impromptu set on West Road, on an electric bass! Those were the days before he developed those crippling gig nerves we read about.

    You know, I'd have to guess "Tow the Line" myself as well... i can hear Ed's voice singing that song...
    I'm pretty stoked about the DVD, I wonder what kind of "high-profile collaborations" we will get treated to?

    Not sure how Ed would sound on it, but I hope to hear Cello Song on this album. Easily my fave from Nick Drake.

    I would like to hear Eddie doing Way To Blue. I think if done right, he could make a version as unique and haunting as the original. And even if it didn't match the original, it would still be a song I would love to hear.

    Hadn't seen this yet. Eddie must be busy. Whatever happened to the Howard Zinn movie he was supposed to do the music for with John Legend?

    Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Dave Grohl, Norah Jones and Jack Johnson are among the acts confirmed for a Nick Drake tribute album to be released by Johnson's Brushfire Records.

    The announcement was made during the MidemNet conference in Cannes, France, by David Schulhof, whose company, EverGreen Copyrights, controls Drake's rights.

    "Fans are willing to pay for that kind of product," he said. "I don't think labels are doing that and I certainly don't think publishers are doing that."

    The recording process was filmed for release as part of a DVD package. It will also include the late actor Heath Ledger's version of "Black Eyed Dog," filmed in late 2007 for a multimedia installation about Drake but never officially released.

    English singer/songwriter Drake was little-known when he died of a drug overdose at age 26 in 1974. But his influence has mushroomed in the ensuing decades, and his profile was given an astronomical boost when his song "Pink Moon" was used in a Volkswagen ad in 2000.

    All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

    you should!!!!!!! he was like a death angel...such a sweet voice and music...such sad songs...i'm happy Eddie is into this tribute.

    Incredible talent... such a loss (shame he wasn't more recognised when he was alive.) Been listening to him for around 15 years now since I first picked up the "Way To Blue: An Introduction To Nice Drake" CD

    Have you had a chance to see A Skin Too Few? It's a documentary about him which includes interviews with his family and people he worked with. It's a really good watch and gives a lot of insight into what his life was like and where the black cloud comes from which hangs over so much of his music. Really good.
