CAN'T BELIEVE THIS REALLY HAPPENED!!!!!!!!

My favorite band was playing my home town on my b-day. I had originally planned on giving my 10c seats to 2 of my sisters and purchasing a extra off another fan club member. That fell through when cutbacks at my job forced me to back out on the extra. So a couple day's before the show a friend of mine who owns a skybox came through and gave me it for a b-day party at the show. Had 10 of my friends buy tickets from him and everything was set.

I went the morning of the show to pick up the tickets and could not believe my eyes when I found out they were front row!!!!!!!!! Since I took my one sister to WP and Tampa last year I decided to put her in my spot in the skybox and take the other one since this was her first PJ show.

We went into the concert and headed down to the seats. We kept walking and when I took my seat I looked up and right in front of me was the microphone!!!! I could not believe it!!! I kept telling the people around me that I was going to loose my freakn mind. I was waiting for the camera to come out and tell me I got punkd and tell me the seats were only for Bad Religion (LOL Vermont).

The intro music started and the lights went out. This was all happening!!!! When I heard the opening to Long Road I just fell apart. I have never heard this song live before and it was one of my favorites. When Eddie said the stuff about the emotion in the house. OMG he had no idea!!! I had tears in my eyes all through that first song. I kept grabbing my sister and kissing her head. The look on her face was unbelievable she was equally happy to be there as she was happy for me.

As the show went on Eddie actually came up and told security to hand me his bottle of wine. I took a drink and passed it to my sister. She gave it back and I put the cork back in. The security guard had walked away and Ed motioned to me to just throw it. When that bottle was in the air it felt like a eternity. Well I didn't blow it the bottle landed safely in his hands. Whew!!! At this point I started getting texts from my friends in the skybox saying they saw it on the jumbo tron! This was too cool.

The band had the whole crowd sing happy birthday and even though it wasn't to me it felt like it was. I actually got the bottle of wine again later in the show. At the very end Ed came over and gave me his pick!!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! PEARL JAM, 10C, THE PEOPLE AROUND ME, and WHOEVER ELSE WHO HAD A HAND IN MAKING THE MOST MEMORABLE BIRTHDAY EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To my fellow 10c members who got stuck in the upper deck I really feel for you but after reading alot of your posts it sounds like you had the 300's rocking. Glad everyone made the best of it!!!!!

Thanks for reading!

It's stories like these that really reinforce just how awesome it is that the fan club made rows 1-2 & 9-10 lottery style! congrats!

Never occurred to me to turn my phone off at a concert. To be honest with you it is always so loud I can never hear it in my pocket. I just happened to have my text set to vibrate so right after the bottle got passed to me my pocket started buzzn so I checked it an saw that they had seen me on the screen. I guess I could see how it could be distracting to others just never crossed my mind.

  • Congrats! I've gotten to about the 13th row and have had an absolute blast so I cant even fathom seats any closer. Ive had a few dreams though in which I go to this small venue/ bar and sit next to the guys and watch them play. I love that dream. Ive had it for around three years now. But, you.... you actually lived it. Im so glad for ya. I love PJ fans. Were all on this ride together. Awsome!

If you dont mind im gonna day dream and pretend the same thing happened to me. :D
  • I'm really glad to read a thread like this after the onslaught of "I got shitty seats..." threads that were flooding this forum the other day. Glad you had such a great time on your bday!

It's stories like this that make the 10C an amazing thing, and make me and others smile. Shun all the naysayers who say things like "f*** the Ten club!"

I am so happy for you - and on your b-day no less . . . . glad you had an experience of a lifetime. Your story gave me goosebumps just reading it . . . and I hope that one day all 10C members get to experience what you did!

 Nothing wrong with dreaming! I'm one of those crazy dreamers dreaming the impossible things...

It's nice to live it through someone else's dream that actually happened!

Congrats and happy belated birthday! That was such an awesome story!

And you, pearljamorbust, congrats on sitting next to them in your dreams!

It's better than the "bad" dreams I've had with them in it. :P In them, I was always a bitch yelling at one of them.

Fuck the bitching about the texting.

While I agree that it's annoying at shows, but for a moment like this, hell yeah I'd want to know what my friends in another spot in the same building were saying and being happy for me - nothing like close friends sharing the same enthusiasm and validating your feelings!

    Too awesome, Shawn! 8-)

I know, I know, I know!!! I litterally cried like a girl when I found out. Okay, I am a girl, but whatever. LOL

I am trying to work out SLC and Seattle right now. Philly is going to happen--have tickets for Night 1, and might try to work some some out for Night 2. We'll see...

Maybe there will an Atlanta next year...wink, wink. You take care!!!

  • Almost the exact same thing happened to me last year, but for Stone Temple Pilots. Nowhere near the excitement, BUT, I got the tickets off the website the day of the show and they were row B, A being the first row. I kept walking up thinking that AA would be row 1. But we passed it and kept walkikng closer and closer, passing most security who asked to see our tickets over and over. Ending up down front row 2 dead center. Of course Pearl Jam vs STP is a weak comparison but the show was still pretty damn good. And being that close only made it that much better. It's always the best when you have no idea your gonna be as close as you are until you get to your seat. That's why I love Pearl Jam shows 10Club ticketing system. It's like the winning the lottery everytime, you know your seats are gonna be great, but how great? 10C is pretty awesome too!
Here's hoping I can get that close tomm. in S.F. since it's GA w/ thousands!

Been kicking myself for not checking it. I always wondered since I love red wine what kind or from what vineyard he drinks from. It was just so unexpected and happened so fast that I forgot to check. The second time he passed it to someone else first and then came back to me. Maybe one of them are on here and checked? I would love to know if anyone has any info.

Fantastic story! Congrats on the lottery and happy belated birthday. It's always so wonderful to hear stories like this.

And to those seeing the text comment as a criticism of the story, relax. There is no need to get hostile. The people who made those comments stated that they were "old." Perhaps they just don't relate to the texting thing. You know different strokes :? :D Hell, some of us (and by that, I mean me), don't even have cell phones :?:lol:

Again congrats to the OP and to Kcherub. I wish . . . that I am as lucky as you guys in Seattle.

Listen Gandhi...Please don't confuse a "caps lock" comment with hostility. We live in a technological world. If you don't have a cell phone...good for you! I saw much more cameras in front of me taking pictures and recording streams of video than I did people texting on their phones. And that didn't bother me. If people feel it's important enough to want to block my view for a few seconds and capture a memory...all the power to them. I just think it's funny that people would even mention being bothered by a text. It's kind of ridiculous...and I say to those people: stay home in your caves!

  • Quite simply a great story.

I've seen 2 PJ gigs and got Long Road opening on both of them.

I'd like to think that the whole band would have been glad to know that such great seats end up going to appreciative folks like yourself.
