this lady is flat out gross, she can't sing live from what I have seen, what am I missing here?

Why is she so popular????

    Isn't she hot?!?! mmm... not she's not so i don't understand either :roll: but she have a couple of tunes not bad at all but i can't understand the hype for her.

    because she a 60's female R&B/soul throwback which was nowhere to be found in mainstream pop music culture at the time.

    the music was hook filled and she looked edgy yet was safe enough for white 30-40 somethings to listen to and feel cool/hip about it. Perfect music for a Starbucks crowd.

    .. because she sings like a soulful angel. shes got a killer voice. and guess what?? some of us can actually separate her music from the stupidity she gets up to.

    until 2007 i knew nothing about her music, just saw her name everywhere in the papers/tv etc

    after seeing her live im a big fan, she's incredible.

    I saw her live on some music channel, I was not impressed at all. She sounded terrible, and all she did was worry about how her straps were falling down on her shirt. admittedly I have not heard any of her studio stuff, I just remember the hype at Lolla a few years back and saw this performance on tv and just was nauseated. I didn;t get soulful out of it at all, more so stoned or drunk or both

    I think its her sound, her voice. Rehab sounded different than anything that was out at the time. And she didnt sound like some white woman from the UK. She sounded basically like an african american woman singing.

    I think thats the appeal of her.
