Yeah, that's a cool poster. By the sounds of things the pic doesn't do it justice. Where did you order it from? I guess it was better than the poster you actually ordered, or not? Did they sell that one when they had the big mystery poster sale at 10C? Here's a link to the expressobeans page for it, more pics there. That's an expensive poster. I really want the 95 Asia poster (since I was there but don't remember seeing posters there) and it's a similar price but even if I had the Istanbul I think I'd find it hard to trade away even for that. It's nice.

As for Benaroya, no I don't play it because I don't have a record player anymore. Will I play it? I suppose I probably will. I want to buy a really nice turntable, to do it (and others) justice :)

I don't get why you'd record it to minidisc? Why not listen to the CD (or copy that to MD?) Not judging, just asking :)
believe it or not, to me the vinyl sounds better recorded to md than cd. i did the same w/ binaural. and i always do it with the xmas vinyls (of course). i have lots of vinyl on md. and i use my md player a lot, still.

i bought the istanbul poster from 10c in 1996. i ordered 3, 2 of them were not what i ordered, but i don't remember being dissappointed, i think i just figured they'd run out of the ones i wanted, i think they were, like US$12 each +postage.

I just picked up a Pro-ject Debut 3 - wicked turntable for a reasonable price

Yeah, that's one of the tables I've been looking at. Did you stick with the standard setup?

Yeah I think so? You mean rather than the USB version?

They make a USB version? Not a bad idea, but I don't think I'd bother making recordings of my vinyl in that way (I wonder what quality the output is? sampling rate, bit depth etc).

I really meant the standard cartridge and so on. I guess it's the way to go to start with. See if it sounds good before trying to mess with the setup too much.

Cool. So it sounds good? No preamp on that one though, right, so did you need to get one?

No pre amp - I've got a phono input on my Yamaha Receiver which works well

I went down to Eastern Hi Fi at lunch to check it out again. Looks nice, didn't have a listen today though. I gotta say, they've got the Xpression III in there and it looks really nice, but it's $899! :( How much did you get the Debut for?

Did they try to convince you to buy the separate preamp or speed box etc? I guess one can always upgrade to them later. But how to really compare your Yamaha's preamp with an external box without buying it?

Paid $449. No they didn't try and talk me into buying anything else. I think a separate preamp would perform slightly better as a dedicated 2 channel source, but as you say, can always add it later - keeping some $$ aside in case a tour is announced tomorrow!

So, I guess the dates worked then? Sweet (for you anyway)!

Are you going with anyone? If you're not, I know a guy that might be in Florida then and if so, he'd probably be keen to take your extras.

Sweet as. You never know, so just checking. Should be great. Unfortunately, the timing didn't work out for a honeymoon for us :) I'm not holding out much hope for shows in December...
