Official Jane's Addiction Should Be Asked to Open for PJ*

Ok.
fuck the official shit,
but seriously.

jane's was my favorite band after REM, before PJ hit the scene.

It wasn't until an interview circa 06 that Jeff spilled the beans to me that JANES ADDICTON WAS THE REASON PEARL JAM FORMED.

Go check the interviews, he said it. straight up.
Green River opened for Jane's or something, and Jeff said he just remembered watching from side stage, thinking something like "oh my god. THIS Is what a performer is supposed to do. THIS Is how a band is supposed to be on stage."

I never got to an original Jane's show.
I poo-pooed at the first 2 or 3 reunions since the late 90's, thinking it just wouldn't be the same.
By CHANCE, i happened to be in Charlotte this year the day of the Jane's & NiN show, and bought a $15 lawn ticket day of. IT WAS FUCKING AMAZING.
Perry played ONLY ORIGINAL songs (nothing off of strays) ... they OPENED with 3 Days, played Summer Time, Then She Did, waited half the night, and built it up with "ARE YOU READY TO FUCKING ROCK?" and let loose on Ocean Size, and played just about every fucking song you could possibly want to hear, including (i think) My Time and Up The Beach. It was like a giant orgasm.

So, in conclusion,
assuming Perry and Dave aren't too pompous of asses to "open" for PJ (SURELY they could say it was a "double headliner") i would LOVE TO SEE JANES SHARE A STAGE WITH PEARL JAM.

It would make my fucking life.
I get the feeling THIS YEAR would be the time to do it,
because god only knows how long Eric Avery will grace the band with his return (or how long Dave and Perry can put up with eachother).

It would really be a nice gesture on PJ's part.
TRULY.

Just a thought.
Humble though it ain't.

thanks

i've always thought that Eddie and Perry could pull off a really neat, albeit very strange, duet.

I used to think the same thing about Eddie and Stipey, but then the REM RnR HoF induction happened, and THAT wish was granted.

Now i'm just asking for ONE more.
    ;)

You wouldn't catch me complaining if that happened - I'd be all for it.

i saw a NIN/JA show at jones beach... listened to 2 songs from Janes, and decided that was enough and left~

i would rather pearl jam expose an up and coming band than have Janes open for them~

    Funny,
because in Charlotte Jane's played second and i was really hoping it was the other way so i didn't have to listen to NIN.

To each their own, i suppose.
There was a time when i LOVED nin -- back in my pimply faced youth.
But now they bore the shit out of me (ESPECIALLY the new shit, emphasis added).

Saying you walked out on a Jane's show though ...
    :o :( :o

the first time i was introduced to Janes Addiction was around 1988 on the Nothings Shocking tour... saw them at a small club in Brooklyn named L'Mours... they blew me away and i have been a fan ever since. I would love to see them open for Pearl Jam in Philly... it would be killer.

I've seen Jane's twice and both were awesome shows. Don't see them as an opener though it would be great.

  • I love Janes Addiction. Something different about them that is cool. The only member I don't like is Dave. He is a sloppy guitarist who thinks he is hot shit. I can't stand his arrogance. Sorry tho say it but that is how I see him. I wouldn't mine seeing them open for Pearl Jam though.

Man, that smiley is just NOT able to leap-frog all the way over. I think all smileys are obese, but this just proves it. ...it also looks like they're humping, but I just know that can't be right.

I saw Jane's Addiction open for Nine Inch Nails - they weren't bad and put on a good show.

That being said, I could really pull for some other openers that won't happen, like Springsteen, My Morning Jacket, the Who, or obviously New Kids on the Block.
