my girl and I WERE huge fans....i used to scratch a lot, and was really hip hop based and i loved that about incubus. since they have gotten away from the funk and the dj stuff, i have drifted, plus the last time i saw them it sucked....seen 4 times, first 3 great. not a big fan of earth to bella and anna molly and the last album in general.
morning view is their peak for me, although Crow Left is fantastic too.

i do like black heart enertia.

I was really into them years ago. During the S.C.I.E.N.C.E. and Make Yourself era's I saw them about 6 or 7 times. They were really a great tight, live band. Brandon Boyd has a very cool and original voice and he really pulls it off live.

Unfortunatly, I saw them a couple of years back when they were touring for the Light Grenades album, and they seemed to have lost their "spark". They just seemed to be going through the motions, and didn't seem into their preformance at all. I was hoping I had just caught them on an off night (I believe everybody is allowed a couple of them) but after talking to some people who saw them on multiple dates, it sounded like they were just off the whole tour (or at least the 5 or shows I heard about).

Even their recent albums just sound lifeless and un-energetic to me, especially when compared with their earlier releases. I can still get into S.C.I.E.N.C.E. and Make Yourself, but after those I just lose interest in them.

Make Yourself and Morning View are solid...

Overall, i love listening to them, but to me, not all their albums are great. Although they do have a spot in my heart...good, long story about when I saw them in Atlanta with my now girlfriend. Wayy too much Crown Royal!

  • funny, i just saw incubus live last month...it was a last second decision to go. they were decent.

and last night, i just made an incubus mix cd for the car. the only albums i have are make yourself and morning view.

nowhere fast off make yourself is dope. so are a lot of songs off that record. overall, not a bad group.

I love Incubus, but i'm not sure I would say they're very musically talented. But then I know very little about music.

I just like the music they produce and think they're decent live. The only thing is...Brandon Boyd bugs the hell out of me.

I can agree on the Brandon comment...love Incubus, but something about Brandon Boyd just doesn't settle well with me...I guess I feel that I can sense that he is conceited. :?

I love them, especially their newer stuff. (Light Grenades wasnt AMAZING, but their previous "newer" albums are great)

I actually think SCIENCE and Fungus Amongus are kinda stupid. Their later stuff is more mature and unique IMO.

Love them and whoever said they weren't musically talented is a complete idiot.

Follow the link and watch either the whole performance of sick sad little world or from 6 minutes on. prepared to be blown away. one of the best live bands out there. point proven.

Me too. Saw them last month @ the USANA Amphitheatre. The show was alright. They didn't play any rare tracks, which kind of bummed me out, most of the stuff they played was their hits. But I guess it was understandable...they did just release a greatest hits.

Yea you're right, I saw them on that tour and it was terrible. I remember thinking the opening band did a better job (The Bravery). Maybe it was because they played mostly songs from Light Grenades and IMO that entire album is trash. I had seen them about five times before and they were awesome, so I was dissapointed that last time. I'm going to seem them next week and hopefully since they're touring for the greatest hits, it'll be less Light Grenades.

  • I love this band bigtime. I love every single one of their albums, they are all so different in vibe. But at the same time, they have a few styles that are repeated from album to album, but I say that in a good way, for example: Circles - Megalomaniac, Kiss to Send Us Off. All kinda the same style and structure but all killer songs and I would be happy with more just like them as long as they continue to develop from album to album as they have so far. I feel they really came into their own with Crow. The Red Rocks DVD shows a pretty mature band that can do A LOT. I've seen em twice this summer. They're amazing, I wish everyone would give them a chance.

Yeah, I agree...Incubus is really great, I really like them
    but
Brandon is a poseur to me...
and this youtube improvization is stilted in my opinion, less is more I believe, and that 6-7 minutes improvization is not that enjoyable at all...
and that's my problem with Brandon, he has been somehow sophisticated to me and when they played right before Pearl Jam in Holland, it was clear he is nowhere as suggestive and natural as Ed.

But SCIENCE, MAKE YOURSELF and A CROW... are fantastic records!
