Eddie, you learned this word in Portuguese, remember?
SAUDADE
I think this word just exists in Portuguese (I can be wrong), and it's the name of the feeling you feel when you're really missing someone. It's a beautiful word.
Pearl Jam, come back because we are feeling saudade...
And according to the Jeff interview posted here and that I read this afternoon I guess we in SA will have to wait until 2008... and I'm not talking about January or February, but April, May...

Or am I just a little hopeless today???
Hopeless? I would say hopeful. To tell you the truth, I would be suprised if they do come back sometime in the next 10 years.

REALLY??? Wow, YOU are hopeless!
j/k
No, I mean, do you think this seriously? Why?
Because I don't understand this refuse of the old and great bands to play here. What's the problem? Money? Well, I think this works for some bands (let's say... the majority of them) but we know PJ is different... eh... right?

It's not refuse, we (south america), just are not part of their regular tour plans. When any big act (such as PJ) decides to tour, they tour the US, Europe and Australia. That's the standard rule. They only come down here if some local promoter (CIE in 2005 brought PJ) decides to bring them here. And we depend on the these promoters good will (i.e. money) to get to see these bands here. About CIE, I heard that PJ charged them a lot of money to play here, and even though they sold out huge venues, CIE had very little profit on that tour, therefore, they are now, not interested and bringing them back here.
As for PJ, let's face it, it took them 15 years to come. If you read old rumour pits, you'll find out that they were trying to coming down here since 1995. So it took them a whole good 10 years for them to make it down here. Touring SA is not a priority for them, specially after just touring here only about 1 year ago. I just don't think it's gonna happen anytime soon. Just being realistic :(

What are the odds of Tim reading this rant of mine when he's online? Probably 0....

Yes, I got your point and understood why it's necessary to be realistic... 'cause in the end it's just a money issue like always was, is and will be, and I don't mean only with shows or tours, but with everything in life nowadays. This is sad. This is f****** sad...
Realists all we are… But the ideia of this “thread” - as well as the “Play the South Petition”, the “Play Alpine Valley” and the “Australia and NZ Part 2” - is exactly to try to call the attention. We cannot be waiting a new show in 10 years, conformed. Money ? Certainly. But being about Pearl Jam... emotion also. And emotion, here…, aaah! ..... As much that in the program "Iconoclasts" (with Laird Hamilton) two stretches of the show of São Paulo had shown... Come on, people… We do not go to give up now! Or we go?!?!?
(P.S.: I repeat: my english is terrible ! Sorry... )

Hi ReleasemePJ! How are you doin'?
You know..., there're both sides. For example, it's horrible when you just keep your efforts increasing a kind of hope that in the end will never become true (no, I'm not talking about PJ shows, but about life). And, on the other hand, the feeling of stay waiting and with the hope that something nice is going to happen... this feeling that is great and bad at the same time (hope + saudade) makes things go on and give you ways to keep going.
What Marie Curie was saying was based on facts, and what I said before her (PJ only in 2008) was just based on the Jeff interview and on that famous rumor of the 2008 Ed's hands (remember?).
Didn't you see how are some people on this board? They never believe in rumors before seeing an official announcement, and they're like this because of the first thing I said: the fear of the disappointment, the fear of knowing that all the hope they had was for nothing.
So, what's better: no hope and safe, or with hope and strenght to keep believing? You chose your side. I think most SA people here are the second one kind. I can say that I'm too, but sometimes I'm just in-between...
I really do believe they'll come back someday. They were very susprised about what they saw here. But my only question is: when? It's the same problem of people in the U.S. I just wanna know when to make my plans, to save money, to do some things that's necessary to do... and... I'll stop talking now.
