    although I'm pretty sure that quote is out of context in an attempt to get people to purchase the magazine.

    I jumped links from their overrated to the best indie albums... when did Oasis, Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, the Cure, the Killers, and the Smiths start releasing indie albums? I think every album on that list is a major label release.

    Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

    ... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

    NME have always hated Pearl Jam and post ridiculous articles about them. I believe it is because they snubbed them back in the day. I remember the review of their Reading festival appearance a couple of years ago, all the headliners got page spread reviews, but Pearl Jam got a tiny corner and it slated the performance saying - Eddie Vedder played guitar too much! What sort of a comment is that!!!

    NME is nothing more than cheap tabloid fodder written by musically retarded half-brights.

    If you can name a single issue of NME in the last 15 years that hasn't had an article on Oasis, I'll personally mail you an autographed glow in the dark Bon Jovi hair pick from "The Slippery When Wet Tour".

    But it pretty much goes against what's he has said in the past.

    The band as well as Eddie have admitted several times over the years that the things that Cobain was saying about the band in the press really hurt their feelings.

    Knowing how much the idiotic "journalists" and editors in NME have bashed the band in the past because of Pearl Jam snubbing them for interviews, I find it rather strange that the band would decide to do an interview for the magazine. I'm hoping they don't do one for Rolling Stone; Ed was pretty pissed about the cover issue back in 2006, where they wanted the band on the cover, and instead Ed was on the cover. Seems like as much as the band wants to get back into the spotlight, the idiots of these magazines just pull another fast one on the band.

    oasis has technically been an indie band since heathen chemistry i believe. or maybe it was don't believe the truth. they are under noels "big brother" label. and radiohead? do you not remember how they released in rainbows? clearly that was an independent release. self released actually.

    most of them are definitely indie bands...

    Oasis were on Creation... indie label...
    Arctic monkeys - Domino ... definitely indie
    The Cure - Fiction .. definitely indie
    The SMiths - quite possibly the UKs most indie band.. Rough Trade records signed them after they were courted by every major label in the UK..

    when Creation signed them they were still being run as an independent label also... Sony did snap them up but Creation were given carte blanche..

    The "I couldn't give a shit what Kurt thought" quote is actually from Jeff. He says he was only hurt by what Kurt was saying back then because he knew Kurt was speaking for Mark Arm, which reminded him that his friendship with Mark still needed repairing.

    Some of the quotes from the band are interesting, but the whole article is basically the NME attempting to justify to its readers why it is covering Pearl Jam at all. "You shouldn't dislike them just because Kurt said they were shit, even though that is the stance we've taken for the last 18 years!" It was always about the Melody Maker if you wanted Pearl Jam coverage back in the day. It's also terribly edited, I suspect the journalist wrote a much more coherent piece, but then the editor gave it three pages (with one a big photo) and suddenly the whole thing had to be hacked to pieces.

    Finally, the bit where the writer explains he spent half an hour with Stone and Mike "an affable pair who talked a lot about, erm, guitars, and so won't be featuring in this piece" broke my heart. Next time you want to spend half an hour talking to the UK press, fellas, talk to Guitarist magazine! Maybe then your time won't be completely wasted and your words will reach their intended audience. Half an hour talking guitars with Stone and Mike sounds like heaven to me :)
