To be fair that guy does have 99.8% positive feedback and nearly 800 sales, just sayin'.........

Like I said in my first post, I emailed ticketsforyou21 and a) they've never heard of him and b) they don't have tickets to the gig. The guy is using their good ebay name to try and scam people.

I am not blaming ten club at all. What they do for us is fantastic and they treat the fans really well. I can't think of many other bands who have a better system in order to get tickets. I just wish they had more tickets!

Fortunately it's my birthday on Thursday so I will be getting some cash from the parents. If that wasn't the case I wouldn't be looking for tickets, that's a fact.

I received this email from Tory Gibson
Your Gumtree.com ad #42940627: Pearl Jam 4x Tickets Shepards Bush London 11th August

    Hello,

You are buying 4x Pearl Jam Tickets Shepards Bush London 11th August. The price including shipping and delivery for two tickets is 200 GBP and for 4 tickets is 400 GBP. I have found a better job in Belfast that's why I am selling them, and since I am not in London I suggest to use
eBay Secure Payment since Gumtree was recently bought by eBay so we will have 100 % protection... For delivery I willuse FedEX and the tickets will get to you in 15h.
I will need your full name and shipping address so i can
contact eBay and let them know about this purchase. They will then
contact you about the transaction details. Let me know if this is ok with you...
    Regards:

I told I was looking for just one or two tickets. I did not give my details. I think it is the same email you received.. what do you think?

I read that someone is looking for spare the sum of 480 pounds. I would pay 120 for my ticket if you find other person

Right, my tickets are fakes. Found out yesterday. Paypal wont cover me as it wasnt done through ebay, police have been in formed but I dont suppose they will do anything either.

Be careful everyone, I wouldnt trust anyone selling anymore. The only thing I can be thankful for is that I found out before spending hours in the queue next week thinking I was gonna get in and at least they were only £100 each (not that I have £200 to throw away but we decided it was worth the risk).

I am amazed at the cheek of the 2 people that sold me the tickets. They gave me so much info and went down the right channels. Just goes to show you cant trust anyone nowdays.

If you have to buy from anyone, just make sure you pay by paypal and it is from a website like ebay. Dont touch anyone from the likes of gumtree or facebook.

I'm more gutted that Im not going to the gig than I am about losing the money

seriously, it is people buying from them that keeps them doing it, you just have to stand up and say no, or they will continue to win

Have you paid with your credit card via Paypal? Get on to them - there are insurances if you have spent a minimum amount of money on an item (I think it may be £100). If you have paid via bank transfer to another bank account? Notify your bank - they will investigate the faudulent use of a bank account. May not get your money back but at least you feel something is being done to those bastards. Let the 'sellers' know police/bank/card/paypal have been notified of this fraud.

i just received this email (I asked something about credit card holder and other things):

Paypal is my preferred method but my account is over the limit and I cannot receive more founds for 2 weeks,so the payment must be made via Moneygram.

You will send the money on the eBay agent, and they will hold the money until you receive and check the authenticity of the tickets, only after that you will inform them to release the money to me, if the tickets are fake (this is not the case) you can anytime take your money back.

I have forwarded your informations to them and they will shortly contact you regarding the payment and terms, please get back to me after that.

ki-esra is my eBay user ID

    OBVIOUSLY I TOLD HER/HIM I DON'T NEED TICKETS

Luckily I phoned ticketweb to check them and they confirmed the booking was wrong and no booking had been made under that name. I paid by paypal but they are saying they cant help as there is no proof that the money I gave them was for tickets. Basically, they will only cover you if you buy from a website. Still waiting on hearing from the Police and have spent the day trying to get hold of barclays on the phone to see if they can help.

Worst thing is the bitch that sold them to me looks really high profile on her facebook page, shes a model and make-up artist, has even done make-up for Calvin Clein shows - not the sort of person you would expect to rip you off but nevermind. I must stop trusting people!

Thanks for your advice, I'm waiting on hearing from the police until I let on to her that I know. At the moment I can still access her profile on facebook so I want her to think everything is ok at the moment. Once I've heard from the police, im going to contact her and try and scare her into giving my money back. Cant see it happening somehow but will make me feel better!

Ugh I started at the beginning of this thread and read all the way through...I was just talking to myself..."don't do it, bad idea, scamming is an art...most of them can make it seem real, some are so good you'd swear by its "validity"...but when tix are a lot less on a posted site than the others available, something is ALWAYS wrong. I'm so sorry...thats a really shitty feeling.

Most people who get the good deals that are "too good to be true" get them by personal encounter...someone likes you (maybe they can tell you're a true fan of the band, for example) <---this happened to me once...I was driving with my girlfriend straight through the night after the Reading, PA VFC show (when we planned to go back to school after the show originally...but we were blown away and wanted to go to the show) when we ran into some PJ fans at the rest stop...we starting chatting about past shows etc...the guy said "hey, I got 2 tickets to Toledo...give em to ya for half!"...we were going to have to buy from a seedy scalper because we were going to Toledo without even a change of clothes.

Sorry Alive...the O2 will be better!

I'm sure the peeps at Facebook would be delighted to know about scalpers using their website too.

Can ticketweb tell people who bought tickets from them?

Maybe you can tell her a tragic story about someone dying, and that you can't go. Then threaten paypal if there's no refund. I can't believe that they won't help because there's no website involved!

No need to completely lose faith. You just need to build better networks of reliable fellow punters, so you can call on each other in times of need.

Completely unrelated, but when I was on holiday once, I arrived late and they didn't give me the room I paid extra for. The manager was having none of it. Once we said we were journalists (which I was at the time), albeit sports journalists, we all got upgrades.

The moral of this story is: Your dad/uncle/brother/you is a top journalist with a top paper or music publication, they are crying out for touting stories and how the big ticket corperations rip us off. See what they say if you say that to them. Make make them sit up and take notice as noone likes bad PR.
