How does one go about hooking up an ipod to a home stereo system?

do you have inputs on your stereo? if so, get a cable & hook it up through the AUX channel. that's my best guess.

You could probably buy a docking station that connects into your receiver

you just need a Y cable. (costs about 4 bucks versus a docking station)

stick the red and white ends of the Y cable into you home stereo inputs (either CD or TAPE), and stick the single end into the headphone part of your ipod.
  • Alright I'm gonna give the Y cable a shot!

  • All set! Thank goodness it was easy. Radio Shack sells a good connector for $20.

    $20?

You didn't let the dorks at Radioshack talk you into their "gold series" cables did you?

    Next time check out monoprice.com

you will find the best deals on cables/connectors there for an unbeatable price. I needed a cable for my ipod/stereo hook-up and it cost me 3 bucks from them.

I don't work for them, just trying to give you a heads up so you don't get ripped off in the future.
