Second, do people in Seattle not have A/C??? I realize you enjoy your perfect summers there, but damn. I mean I live in Texas but I still have a heater in my house.
That said, my office building I work in is very nicely air conditioned. My desk is a cool 72 degrees.0 -

I hope the Pearl Jam/Ten Club warehouse has air conditioning. Otherwise, I bet it is pretty miserable in there.0

SEATTLE --
Seattle has recorded the hottest temperature in its history.
The National Weather Service recorded 102 degrees at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, breaking a previous record of 100 degrees, set most recently in 1994.
Jay Albrecht with the weather service says that's the hottest it has been in Seattle since temperatures were first recorded in 1891. He says temperatures could keep climbing.0 -
BTW, it's just hit 104 in Tacoma.0

Not looking forward to leaving work in a 1/2 hour - but I'm gonna head on down to Pacific Place and catch a movie. Won't feel guilty staying inside on a sunny day...at all."Trial and error isn't a bad way to learn how to build an aircraft, but it can be a disastrous way to learn how to build a civilization..."0

My thermometer hit 106 when I was leaving Seattle at 5 today. This is freakish for sure - I've lived here all my life and this is the warmest summer I can recall...and the record books are backing my claim.

An average homeowner, and even many businesses in the Seattle area do not have air conditioning. A normal summer it's just not needed - for the two days in July it gets in the 90s we head to the lake or to a movie theater. But this is the worst that it's been...there were many stories on the radio of people standing in lines to purchase air conditioners and then going home and huddling one room, warnings telling people where the cooling stations are, to check on your elderly neighbors and outdoor pets, etc.
I know that we have a couple people that are considering sleeping at work tonight - and we set up our tent last night. (Try it my Seattle friends - the tent was valhalla!) Our house was still around 90 degrees last night and not much cooler when I came back in this morning. Houses up here are built for rain - most houses around here are made with wood and bricks where most houses in hot areas like Phoenix & So Cali are made of adobe - much cooler.
Oh - and we like to complain when it's not raining - bring back the rain!Check out my Sudsy Chick Etsy Store for all natural homemade bath products!0 -

We haven't had much of a summer in the midwest.. First July since records began to not break 86 degrees this month in Chicago, most days in the 70s.. I wish this shit would balance itself out.0

This is just nuts! It's true, most here don't have a/c, even most business's don't. The hottest it usually gets is in the mid 70's with an occasional low 80's thrown in for maybe a day or 2 at the most. I still can't believe that I actually had the heater on a week ago and that the temperature was in the 50's! I so want that back and the rain!"I'd rather be with an animal." Alright . . . I'm finally over it. It's only supposed to be 100 tomorrow. I guess that's better than the 106 it's been for the last couple of days.
It's too hot to even check voicemail . . . Ugh.NERDS!0
