My favorite list starts with "GO"..hard for sure(but release is really the best opener ever)
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
    "..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”

How do you like your shows to start?????

I've been thinking and typically...being a female...I like to start slow and tender like with "Hard to Imagine" but lately I'm feeling angsty and want to be hit hard...and have it keep coming!!!!

I know it should be like waves building gently then breaking....but I think I want to be hit with a sudden hurricane... find it's eye...then fight your way out the other side.

How do you like to start a show...soft or hard?

I have no idea, all i know is for some reason this post turned me on.
    Peace, Love.

I generally prefer the soft start. As someone else said, Wash is an incredible opener, one of my favorites along with Long Road.

BUT, when I saw Brain of J suggested, I couldn't resist. One of my favorite opening tracks on any PJ album, and it would tear your face off at just about any show.

This is a fast/hard song I could get very pumped for.

so i was thinking a good show is like good sex....start off slow/easy/gentle/....then as it progresses it gets faster and ruffer....then you slow back down a little in the middle....then toward the end you pick the pace back up and go for broke!!..........ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh...i just busted a Yellow Ledbetter!:mrgreen:
I can understand this mentality...Sometimes hard all the way through with a little slow down in the middle suits me just fine. Like a lover you will never see again...except in this case it's Pearl Jam...and you want them to ROCK YOU SO HARD....you have trouble getting up the next day. THAT'S WHAT I WANT!!!!! PLEASE!!!!

    Here are my openers...

    Long Road: 5
    Go: 4
    Release: 3
    Sometimes: 2
    Severed Hand: 1
    WWS: 1
    RVM: 1
    Wasted Reprise: 1

Almost an even split between hard and soft. I have to say I prefer the soft one. Go as an
opener really doesn't work for me. I'd rather have the build up. I'd love to hear Of The Girl open a show, but I doubt I'll ever get that one. Wash would be pretty amazing as well. I love HTI, but I think that one would be a bit too slow.

I tend to view the shows as fucking revivals - you know? All of the faithful show up to testify to the magic and greatness that is this band and what they mean to us all.

So I like it when they start off with an emotional slow song like Release and I imagine Ed gathering us all together emotionally for a the great ride we're about to head out on.

Plus, the slow ones build up anticipation for the ass-rockin, harder song which you KNOW will follow immediately. :D

For once I'd love to see a show start with Blood, Comatose, then Leash. Really fuckin kick the crowds ass right out of the gate.

I tend to dig the hard hitters right off the bat straight through the first encore...then ease off the second encore with some variation...the end the night with a bang!

anyway, I was reflecting on some shows I have seen and I'll have to say, this was my 2nd or 3rd favorite show I've ever seen and here is how the show started...

    Wash
    Go
    Hail, Hail
    Animal
    Brain of J
    Corduroy
    Immortality

probably couldn't imagine much of a better start to a show....any guess what show this was :?:
