Into The Wild is just so phenomenal it got me thinking....do you think Ed will give us another solo effort?

He seems to like touring solo, has already done 2 of those tours...

The songs on ITW are just great and it's interesting to hear them because it's Ed working (mostly) alone and not with the rest of the fellas.

If he were to do another record he's already got a few songs that could go on there....Goodbye, Satellite, You're True, Longing To Belong etc. I know those songs have already been out there but they haven't been officially released and it would be nice to have them all in one place on an official release.

    I hope so.

Now that he's broken the ice. He was really asked to do Into The Wild, so it wasn't something he decided to pull out of his ass.. hopefully when this next album and tour are over he does something. Even if its only released through Ten Club.

ITW was actually Ed's second solo record.

    The first was called "Vitalogy."

probably not without some new inspiration or a cause he really supports - like ITW

dont see him doing it just to do it... definitely seems to save his best for PJ... or atleast bring it all to the table... and i cant say for sure how the band dynamics work during the song writing process, but i would think anything ed really wants on the album is gonna be there

certainly as he gets older though the solo tour / acoustic song thing is gonna appeal to him more... so we'll see how it all plays out

I too hope he does. I don't want it to take away from a PJ record, but maybe after the tour cycle ends, when he is sitting at home he can record some tracks on his own time and put something out. I enjoy Into The Wild, but I would not be opposed to him putting out a record in any style he wants. I think an Alternative-Country album would be a good one, but that's probably just me. Punk would be fine to. I am sure there is a good chance I would love anything he puts out.
words seem so out of place.

I read somewhere he was going to contribute musically to a new Howard Zinn inspired movie. Whether it is only one song like Body of War or a whole album I'm not sure, but I would be happy with anything.

i think eddie writes the best music when it comes to him; not sitting down and forcing himself to write

  • I really hope that Ed releases another solo album. "Into The Wild" is fantastic. I hope that when Pearl Jam breaks up or goes on hiatus (hopefully never), Ed will continue releasing new music and touring. I would rather see Ed as a solo artist than become the frontman in some sort of "supergroup" or something (unless it is a brief tour as The Doors frontman).

never looked at into the wild as an ed solo album, he did a soundtrack which is a whole different ballgame than an individual effort. i'd bet he never does a solo as long as PJ is still functional.
as to the soundtrack i was disappointed the- send me an angel ?- wasnt included

I can definitely see another solo project at some point, a friend of mine was saying this just the other day actually.

yes, it is a soundtrack but it is also an individual effort in that he did it himself. it's both really.

There's been a rumor that all the uke songs were recorded for a solo album back in 2002, but it never saw the light of day. According to rumor, some folks on Red Mosquito have heard it. I don't know if I buy it, but I wouldl kill for a Ed uke album.

I think he definately will. I think he's more likely to do solo stuff now than continue making PJ records honestly. Think about how much easier it is for him to just write some shit on his guitar alone rather than coordinating with 4 other dudes a hawaiian monster and the producer of the millenium. Thats what I think. Can't wait till he does. ITW is one of my fav albums of all time.
