opinions are like assholes , everyones got one.
nickleback or even alice in chains ( with or without the layne guy ) cant even come close to the same stratosphere as Bruce, in fact they couldnt even come close.
Theres a reason he's called " the boss " .
He is an Amercian legend and icon .,
He has more stamina than most of his younger counterparts ( if you want to call them that )
He still has relevance and longevity , even after all these years.
He heads a band, & he has a vast solo catalogue .
He has influenced many many of todays current artists .
Lets not even go into record sales and watchout if you're talking concert sales/ sellouts.
Absolutely no stagehow ( unlike U2 ) just the man and his band.
Just ike with Pearl Jam, some people get it , and some dont.
To say he blows , even if you dont care for his music or whatever ,
is just ignorant, and says alot about ones self ,
its your loss.Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight

I can definitely see Bruce joining the band for a song or 2 in the second set like Ben Harper's done in NYC. Bruce has dropped in on other bands playing in Philly before for a song or two. He did it on the last U2 tour. Given his proximity to Philly those dates and his fondness for the Spectrum, I can see it happening.TFC '97, TFC '98, Pittsburgh '98, Camden I,II '98, Camden I,II '00, Pittsburgh '00, Philly '03, Camden I,II '03, MSG I,II '03, Hershey '03, Reading '04, Philly '05, Camden I,II '06, Meadowlands I '06, Camden I,II '08, DC '08, Spectrum I,II,III,IV '09, Made in America '12, Philly I,II '13, GCF '15, Philly I,II '16, MSG I '16, Apollo ‘22, MSG ‘22, Camden ‘22, MSG I,II '24, Philly I,II '240

Bruce is performing at MSG HOF show on the 29th, not the 28th or 30th...0

You shouldn't title the thread the way you did. It makes it seem like some kind of announcement, at least put in a question mark or something.0

Everytime an artist that PJ or Eddie has said they liked at some point is playing with 150 miles of Pearl Jam, there is a rumor Ed will be making an appearance. Now just because Bruce Springsteen has a few off days, he is suddenly going to bring his whole setup and band back to the Spectrum just 2 weeks after previously playing there. And he is going to open for Pearl Jam. Do you guys ever read what you are typing before hitting post?

This post made me laugh! Everything you wrote is so true....

He doesn't have these days off, he is playing the Garden on the 29th for a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame benefit. Hope this ends the stupidityPJ

Whatever date (10/30, 10/31) is the last concert/event/anything at the Spectrum, I wouldn't be at all surprised for Bruce to make an appearance for a song. Most of you here only view this as a PJ show (and that's totally fair), but that doesn't change the fact that it's the end of an era in Philly; and that Philly was one of the first radio markets to play Bruce; he used to include several (more than 4) sold out shows at the Spectrum per tour. So he joins them for a song or two -- if you really can't stand him, that can be your bathroom break.0

Having worked at Comcast-Spectacor for 2 years and knowing how some fairly important people think, part of me is suprised that they are closing the building with just Pearl Jam. That said, I don't see any possibility the E Street Band does anything after their scheduled two shows. They already pissed a lot of people off who thought they were seeing the last E Street Band play the Spectrum for the last time.
I do think there will be some guests at these shows and would not be suprised if something fairly big was in the works. A number of recent calls have gone unanswered which is a bit strange.
I will not be a suprised either way.0 -

Actually that was already posted, 2nd or 3rd page I think.0 -
I'm not even a fan of Bruce, hell I thought his Superbowl performance was damn corny. But seeing Bruce and PJ in one show would be fucking sweet.
Its also not gonna happen so for that Id rather PJ play by themselves. Not having an opener for the last shows at a venue before its torn down is cooler anyway.5/28/06, 6/27/08, 10/28/09, 5/18/10, 5/21/10

Funny how people's fanaticism for a band can warp their perceptions. Do any of you who have mentioned it really think that the E St. Band would open for Pearl Jam?
And those who would be pissed at the thought of seing a double bill (not that it would ever happen) - are you serious? For $90 or so you'd see Pearl Jam and the E St Band, and that would piss you off? Unreal. In terms of energy and showmanship (ignoring your opinion of the music, which is subjective), nothing I have ever seen tops a Springsteen concert. Often 3hrs+, never leaves the stage, no 'encore' crap. I've brought Springsteen 'haters' to E St. gigs, and they're universally blown away by the experience.
If you people who are in Philly are lucky enough to see Bruce guest with PJ on a song or two, you'll be witnessing something special. When we found the things we loved,
They were crushed and dying in the dirt.
We tried to pick up the pieces,
And get away without getting hurt,
But they caught us at the state line,
And burned our cars in one last fight,
And left us running burned and blind,
Chasing something in the night.0 -
^^^^ Thanks Kinsey for your articulate post. Seems like many folks here have forgotten all the Bruce has done for Philly over the 35+ years he's been a major artist. Love him or hate him, he is still a major influence in the music industry and this is his adopted hometown and forum since he was from nearby Jersey originally. To the rest trying to reinvent Grunge, hate to tell you ain't gonna happen and Alice in Chains without Layne is the Dead without Jerry, IMO. Soundgarden would be more likely in Seattle for a reunion since the Spectrum holds no significance I am aware.======================================================================

If you ask for pizza for your last meal because its your favorite food, bar none, you could have it 3 times a day for the rest of your life and never complain, I could put the greatest steak in the word in front of you and you'd still rather go for the pizza, right? you have limited capacity, and you'd rather use it on pizza than steak.
PJ is pizza; Bruce might be the greatest steak in the world, but it doesnt matter.
Bruce joining in for a couple of Bruce songs during the encore is fine. I think Ed does an amazing job with Bruce songs (if youve heard The Promise Land from Philly 2005, you know what I'm talking about), but if I could get 3.5 hours of PJ without Bruce or 1.5 hours of PJ and 1.5 hours of Bruce, give me 2.5 hours of PJ any day, and twice on Halloween.Found: Soundgarden Hyde Park DVD (Thank you for the gift!)

I think you may have misread me a little. Of course 99% (probably even 100%) of the people here would rather see PJ live than Bruce. I'm not disputing that at all. I was trying to point out that:
1) Springsteen and PJ playing full sets in the same place on the same day is not going to happen, outside of festivals - and even then PJ would be 2nd on the bill.
2) IF it did happen, to see 2.5hrs+ of both acts on the same day would be a treat, even if you don't really dig Springsteen's music. The show is hard to resist.
Let's just compare them both to (cheese)steak, and I'd say that if you ever get the chance to see them perform together, take it.When we found the things we loved,

Aren't there still tickets available for the 1st show?Small my table, seats just 3, its not crowded, its just lucky me0 -

as much as would like to see eddie or anyone else in the band show up at the r&r hall of fame shows on the 29th, i don't think they will be invited. so far it seems that everyone on the bill is actually in the hall. PJ has a few more years to go.0 -

 they could just want to be there to see/support friends and jump on stage for a song with someone. If nothing is everything, I'll have it all0 -
if pj and bruce were playing in the same city on the same night i'd rather see bruce. least with bruce i'll actually get a 3+hour concert and not really mind paying 90 bucks for tickets.Kinsey wrote:
